So many people have it, yet no one seems to have accurate information about it!!! I know my doctor didn't do a good job about explaining it, but that's why I bought books and did my own research. I wanted to know EVERYTHING about it. However, so many people have some really wack ideas and facts about it on here and it's bothering the hell out of me!!! What's the problem???

You are so right. Almost half of the population in America has this disease. Some don't even show symptoms of it which is why it is so widely spread. I have it myself, I got it from my boyfriend of 2 years and he did not show symptoms at all. I did the whole ton of research on it as well, and you are right, when you talk to the doctor they don't give you thorough information. Mine told me that my boyfriend was cheating on me and I would more than likely have herpes. Some people get warts while others do not. Needless to say I never went back to her and found a different doctor. We had only been together for a short amount of time (6 months) when I found out I had it. But what people don't know is that it could take months for it to show up, and that is only if you have symptoms of it. I was a bit unfortunate and did get the warts. They went away on their own and I will probably never have them again according to the research I did. But I still carry the virus. It just seems like ALL STD's are stereotyped in a horrible category. Like if you have one it is the plague or something. Btw, I am still with him, 2 and a half years now, but if something does happen any partner (not even sure if I want another one) will be warned straight off the rip. I don't want to spread this illness. And no, you can't get it from the toilet seat lol. Take care and good luck :D

I understand you completely, my doctor did a VERY lousy job, she told me I had to have babies right away since I would get cancer and would need a histerectomy ASAP, no more oral sex for me EVER, and that I should start quimio right away.
I was so scared. I went to another doctor and told me I had high risk of developing cancer and told me it was totally treatable, etc. I searched in the web for everything and asked my new doctor and got annoyed since I was trusting the web.
I don´t know, i have learned more about the HPV talking with people who have it than with doctors. Right now I really trust my doc (the third one), she is constantly going to conferences about this illness and is very very prepared.
I hope. But the thing is, I do not really know.
Look, the "official page" says this:
"There is no "cure" for HPV infection, although in most women the infection goes away on its own".

Did you find anything useful?

After seeing the info-mercial, I too asked my gyno. She told me that the vaccine is only when you have an abnormal pap smear. I later saw on tv that girls from the age of 1012?? can also get it if sexually active and should have vaccine as well. My gyno didnt tell me anything about kids or just having the vaccine for protection. It was a lil informative.

HUMAN PAPALLOMA VIRUS (i think thats how u spell it..lol) n e way, i know a lot about it, just cant spell it. people are misinformed because of there own ignorance. i think people are not getting checked out as often as they should and so they dont even know they have it in a lotta cases. women dont really get symptoms till later on. men would know maybe a few weeks later. n e way. im glad i am blessed and highly favored!

That's mostly because the information on it is being "promoted" in order to sell mandatory vaccinations as well as drugs to manage the side effects of the vaccination. That doesn't make it correct, valid or even in context. It's about siphoning billions of dollars to the drug companies.

They listen to media blurbs and do none of their own research. I am amazed at how many women know so very little about their own sexual and overall health because they rely on the media and their Dr to inform them.

Ya my doctor did a real lousey job at explaining it to me too. He told me to not get it because I have already been sexually active. I'm like WTF. If I don't have it then give me the stupid shot! Then, my insurance wont cover it. I just don't understand why they are making a big stink over it if nobody can even help you get one.
