There are 8 different kinds of herpes that belong to the herpes simplex virus. Genital herpes, cold sores, chickenpox, shingles, and many more belong to the herpes simplex virus family.
When a person says "herpes" they are usually either talking about genital herpes or cold sores though. Both cold sores and genital herpes can be caused by either herpes simplex virus 1 or 2. Cold sores are usually caused by herpes simplex virus 1, while genital herpes are usually caused by herpes simplex virus 2.
I contracted genital herpes (and HPV) when I was 17 years old. I developed sores on my genital area, was in a ton of pain, had a fever, was very tired, and had other flu like symptoms. I could hardly walk or sit down because I was in so much pain. When I saw my doctor she examined me and gave me a pap smear, which I bawled through because it was so painful. She gave me a prescription for 4 different medications: acyclovir tablets, acyclovir ointment, famciclovir tablets, and Vicodin for pain. The sores healed within 2 weeks. Since then I have had about 5 outbreaks over the last 6 years. My last outbreak was over 2 years ago.
Feel free to email me if you want to talk. Take care!

I got diagnosed with herpes (type 2) about 4 years ago, whilst I was still attending college and had a dumb one-night stand. I know a lot of young women say this, but I swear I had never done that sort of thing before. I just made a massive mistake that one time and all of a sudden I felt like I was going to have to live with the consequences for my entire life. The worst part was feeling I could never date guys again. After all, who wants to go out with a girl who has sores round her private parts? But since a friend shared this video https://tr.im/GqnjK everything got better.
Not only was I able to clear away all traces of the herpes virus from my body in less than 21 days, but I was also able to begin dating again. I even met the man of my dreams and I'm so fortunate to write that just last week, in front of everyone in a crowded restaurant, he got down on one knee and proposed to me!! This method provided the opportunity to be happy and experience true love again. Now I want to help others too by sharing this story.

• HSV2 is a sexually transmitted disease that is spread through direct skin-to-skin contact, not by the exchange of fluids.
• The most common symptom associated with having the Herpes virus is getting outbreaks that may be itchy or painful. These outbreaks most often occur on the genitals. A word of warning: the pictures you find on the Internet are considered worst case scenarios, and everyone I have talked to within the group even considers the pictures on the Internet scary and extreme.
• Many people are asymptomatic or mistake their symptoms for hemorrhoids, shaving rashes, jock itch, eczema, sex irritation, yeast infection, or urinary tract infection. Most, if not all, symptoms usually disappear over time.
• Complete STD tests do not test for HSV2. In most cases, you have to specifically request a blood test by your doctor. If you have not done this, you probably have never been tested for it before.
• 20-25% of the population has HSV2, but 90% of people who have it don’t know they have it.
• Condoms can help prevent the spread, but are not guaranteed to do so. There are medications that decrease the chances of transmission, but are again not 100%.
• HSV2 is not deadly, rarely causes serious health problems, nor does it prevent one from having healthy children. However, there is currently no cure.

Herpes comes in many different forms so it is hard to pin point if you have it or not.
Herpes comes once a month if you have an active outbreak. Sometimes it goes into remission.
Herpes can apear to be a rash on regular skin or a nice swoolen area on your vagina that is kinda bubbly.
Herpes will go away and come back usually once a month pretty regularily when you first get it.
You can have sex if you have herpes as long as it is not at the time of an outbreak so that you do not pass it on to your partner.
It can not be cured but it can be treated.

I am absolutely terrified and I feel so alone. I just found out last week that I tested positive for hsv1 and 2. I have been with the same man for the past 10 years and within the last year found out that he has cheated on me with numerous women. I am so scared that I can give it to my children by kissing them and them eating with me...I feel like my whole life has changed. And even though the nurses, my doctor, and websites say that a lot of people have it I still feel like I am by myself. My self esteem has dropped and I feel like I have been used up. But now, My life is very happy.
