In itself- Heart palpitations without chest pains are not life threatening. But constant episodes of these SVT's( Supraventricular tachycardias and PV'C's ( premature ventricular contractions or skipped beats. might lead to the life- threatening arrythmias called Atrial flutter; Atrial Fibrillations and V'Tach.

SVT's or Supraventricular Tachycardias such as your heart rate of 240 bpm are not effective cardiac rhythm. VT if not treated will eventually lead to cardiac Ischemia; heart attacks or MI. Moreover, ischemia and necrosis to the cardiac muscles. will eventually lead to cardiac myopathy or weakness of the cardiac muscles and thus total cardiac failure. You'll discover that V-Tach is usually observed in a Cardiogenic Shock. And death can ensue

In addition during Atrial Fibrillation and atrial flutter, clots might be formedand completely blocked the blood vessels to the heart. And again it would cause ischemia. or even strokes (CVA's) when the clots dislodged.

Because the upper part of your heart isn't pumping out properly, blood clots can form and travel to your brain causing stroke. A stroke can cause paralysis, loss of vision, speech, hearing, mental faculties, and can make life miserable. Stroke is often a fate worse than death.

Another cardiac damage to consider is syncopal episodes. As your heart do not beat properly and effectively, less oxygen arrives to the brain ( you're right to state this ). causing unconsciousness or fainting spells. and even dizziness.

Catheter ablation is the therapy of choice for the treatment of accessory electrical pathways in the Wolf Parkinson White Syndrome.. This is a one time therapeutic intervention to prevent the further use of drugs. Ablation is done in order to find the leak and seal that leak via laser technology.

If you are having these weird beats and chest pains; you should immediately see the cardiologist again as you are still in Atrial Fibrillation( A -Fib). You might need a secondary ablation. Or the following drugs: 1) to regulate the heart rate.

2) blood thinners such as Coumadin or Warfarin. or baby Aspirin.

3) antiarrythmic drugs such as Digoxin which is the drug of choice for Atrial Fibrillation. or Verapamil, a calcium channel blocker. or Dioxin which is an angiotensin II antagonist..

I hope I answered your question directly. and thoroughly.

You should refrain from consuming too much alcohol as it will certainly speed up your heart rate as it's a cardiac stimulant and further compromised or exacerbate your cardiac problems. .

The pulse rate you quote would not be proper beats. They'd be some form of 'multiple beats', -very inefficient, and the effective pressure driving blood round would be low, -not high. So no risk of heart damage from pressure. The brain would cause the high pulse rate to try to get the pressure UP, to enable 'supply' to meet 'demand', but probably would not be succeeding. THat's the danger.
High pulse rate is not (of itself) damaging. What's damaging is whatever is the cause of the high pulse. Alcohol, of course would be obviously one cause, and if you were on drugs/medication that's probably another.
Given your cardiac history it sounds like a dangerous episode
which might well have been fatal.
There's a very high probability that it would be if repeated, and that all you've written is correct.

I don't know of any specific heart damage, but there would be some organ damage due to the high blood pressure during that time.

If this is an isolated incident then you should be fine and your organs will heal themselves. If this is a common occurrence then you really need to speak to your doctor.

Your heart can't beat at that rate to begin with, and if the rate gets too fast, the atriums and ventricles get out of sinc with one another. It's called ventricular tachycardia and it kills you because you are not getting oxygenated blood to the brain. You simply couldn't have this heart rate for more than a short time or you would die. So I suppose the damage would be rather severe and permanent to the entire body, not any one part in particular.

Not specifically to the heart but rather to the vessels supplying blood to the heart - it puts too much pressure on these arteries and so can cause damage there.

the cause is because u have just been jumping on a trampoline.. zzz ur heart can go up to 300bpm also..u are miscounting.. if u plan on counting right after strenous activity, let someone else do it.. because u will be able fo feel the pulsation in ur temples as well, and ppl often double count

If you were young and healthy 18-20 your maximum heart rate would be as much as 200, obtained during exercise. Heart rates were experienced by astronauts at very high sustained levels.

More important would be why would it be at that level? If is was due to either a rhythm defect or drugs, both of these in themselves would be dangerous, indeed potentially fatal.
