It's worth having STD testing done just because many STDs have no symptoms.
Don't worry too much though. It could have been a urinary tract infection that your body's natural defenses were able to cure without medication.
If you're worrying about this 4 or 5 years later, you should get STD testing done just for your peace of mind. You likely will not be able to relax about it until you know for sure.

It could have been an STD. Chlamydia, Syphyllis and others are cured with antibiotics...It is possible that the burning upon urination was an STD and within the past two years you have been prescribed an Antibiotic that cleared it up. HOWEVER, it may have just been cystitis and inflammation of the bladder that is usually caused from caffiene or holding urination long amounts of time. Fluid intake could have cleared it up on its on. Too much caffeine and holding urine long bouts at a time, irritate your bladder and the opening, urethra, burns from this. Water, water and more water. Trust me, I know, I have had cystitis. NOT fun. Also a UTI is 95% of the time a bladder infection, not kidney. If you have a true kidney infection, you will be REALLY sick. Bactrim is a sulpha drug used to treat bladder infections if no allergies to it. Good luck to you.

chances are u got a typical run of the mill urinary tract infection, UTI. there are some over the counter meds for this. Cranberry juice is also really good. women get this all the time. and it does come n go. but when its around id head to the doc, and he'll give you antibiotics to flush the infection out. So dont worry it doesnt sound like an std.
