We're going camping next weekend so we'll be in the woods a lot. We need something that's preferably waterproof and long-lasting. What's the best bug spray out there?

I've used "Off" and "Cutter" brands but both didn't' impress me, I still got bit up a lot. What annoy me most are those tiny bugs that like to fly straight into my face!

Off is got to be the best brand, by my opinion!!! Just don't get the scented kind. Get the deep woods kind. Read the ingredients on all the different kinds. Get the one with the most deet in it!!! Have fun, get use to the bugs....it's all a part of being in the outdoors!!!

An insecticide that is 100% DEET will offer up to 12 hours of protection against insect bites. Lower dosages, 20% to 34%, will offer 3 to 6 hours of protection.

Picaridin, or sometimes listed as Icaridin, has been shown to have the same or superior protection as DEET.

Permethrin is another ingredient in some insecticides that is fantastic when applied to clothing or bedding, NOT to your skin.

Below is a link to insecticides that contain DEET and also a link to the main site at insect-repellent.net. A very informative site.

I use Repel brand with 40% deet seem to work OK. I also use 2 to 3 citronella candles to help keep pest at bay

Any brand that contains more than 95% DEET works very well, however do NOT apply to your skin, just to clothing and gear. Put some 30% DEET on your skin and then you should be fairly well off.

If it's bugs in your face that's the problem you could wear a mosquito head net.

The new Sawyer Controlled Release Insect Repellent contains 20% DEET but prevents its absorption into the body and is safe for the whole family.

Eat some sulfur a few days before you go, its not hard to find it and the bugs will stay away from you. Mix it with some honey and you can't tast it.

if the field of the liquid (computer virus repellant) states that it is flammable, it is going to artwork. between the main flammable liquid is denatured alcohol. the size of the flame could matter on the strain of the field.

Try Noxema skin cream. Bugs will stay away from you. It's an old fishing rick.

Avon's "Skin-So-Soft"...........bugs hate it! And it doesn't make you stink either. It softens the skin and makes you feel better. Just don't over-do it, or you also be "slicky"...LOL! Have a great time camping. ☼
