Alright here's what I have to say to people who are Vegan's or Vegetarians....

Don't call yourself a Vegan if you own leather or fur in any shape or form (belts, shoes, wallets, car seats, coats, rugs etc...)

If you apply makeup, don't use make up that is animal tested and call your self Vegan/ Vegetarians.

If you get sick, don't take any OVER THE COUNTER OR RX meds. FDA requires animal testing in order to prove toxicity in the drugs.

So, before any of you come to talk & preach the wonderful life of Veganism...think before you speak!

(For those who live life truly on a Vegan lifestyle - more power to you! You've earned my respect).

What are your thoughts on this matter?

My husband, 3 children and I are all vegan.

We do not eat any animal derived products, wear any animal derived products (no leather, wool, skin or fur in our closets or home!), do not buy any products that have been animal tested and use natural herbs and prayer when ill. We have never been healthier. In fact, when we donate blood they say our iron levels supercede any meat eaters. Our doctors tell us to keep up what we are doing. Our kids grow properly and all are very healthy and very smart (my oldest just turned 15 and is 6'2"!)

I believe I can talk the talk because I walk the walk!

I am a "true" vegan but I own a two leather belts and a pair of leather shoes. Also, I use mascara that was probably tested on animals and has animal products in it. Why? Because they're hand-me-downs! My friends often give me their old stuff that they plan to throw out and that saves me a trip to the often expensive vegan good stores. That doesnt make me any less vegan than you and by recycling this old stuff I'm being more kind to the environment as well.
As for any kind of drugs, the FDA does require that the components of all drugs are tested on animals. However, this does not mean that all drugs are tested on animals. There is also selective formulation (choosing already tested ingrediants to create a drug) human cultures, using the physiological chip, cellular tests, along with microdosing humans. And to all those who have something just grand to say about how wonderful animal testing is for human drugs.. the truth is, humane testing methods in place of animal testing are actually more applicable to human health!! Animals are NOT humans and react differently to different chemicals.
Also, the majority of the testing going on today is done by greedy corporation owners whose patent on a drug has run out so they create another with the same purpose, made of different components.
Animal testing is NOT needed!

Well one could be an ethical vegan, or one could have a vegan diet. There may be other variations.

A person on a vegan diet wouldn't worry about the clothes stuff. There is a radio talk show host who was a dietary vegan for a number of years to loose weight. After loosing the weight he stopped the vegan eating. He said specifically it was for his own personal health (weight loss) needs.

Edit: Some, perhaps most people who are vegan may not agree with this concept of vegan diet. I use the term because the same can be said of vegetarian diet, where someone eats that way because of their own body.

it incredibly is from Donald Watson the founding father of the Vegan Society and the originator of the term vegan: "veganism" denotes a philosophy and attitude to existence which seeks to exclude — to this point as is available and functional — all varieties of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for foodstuff, clothing or the different objective; and with the aid of extension, promotes the form and use of animal-unfastened selections for the income of human beings, animals and our surroundings. the different definitions are the two partly actual or purely nutritional centred meaning they could describing a strict/organic vegetarian. The definition above or some thing without postpone appropriate too it no longer changing any of the suggestions could incredibly be the only actual definition.

I agree with you in all ways, except for the meds. Meds must be tested on animals incase they accidently consume it. So in a way, the vegans/vegatarians are protecting their animals so they do not become ill from them if they accidentally consume it. The only reason why i agree with you that they should not use leather is because that kills the animals and that is the opposite of what they are trying to do by being vegan/vegatarian. Although, that is not in the dictionary definition of bein vegan OR vegetarian, it is just ethical that they not use leather, or any other animal product.

My thought is that veganism is an unhealthy lifestyle for most people. Vegetarianism? Sure! Veganism? Well, if you need medication, you need medication. That can be the difference between being sick or healthy, alive and dead. And the FDA requires that these things be tested on animals for a reason. You can't go around killing people to find a cure for a disease. It is silly not to take something that you need just to save some rats. I love rats, but people are more important. That said, I agree with you that it is wrong to kill animals for things that are not necessary parts of life, like clothes or makeup. There are synthetic materials and tests for many of those. It is wrong to kill something just so you can supposedly look good.

My thoughts are that you really asked no question at all and that you simply want to cause trouble.
