I was watching Food Network and they were talking about how fattening it is. I always thought of Hummus as something that was good for you.

Tehina which is used in the original recipe is very high in fat. It is highly nutritious, though.

Depends on the recipe. But the good hummus has olive oil in it, that's fat, but it's the good fat.

Depends on who makes it. Ideally, it is mostly chickpeas, but it also has lemon juice, tahini, olive oil, garlic, etc.

Tahini is sesame seed paste, so it has about as much fat as peanut butter.
Oil is all fat.

But, those are components in an otherwise low-fat dish.

not all fats are bad- the fats from olive oil and seeds are very healthy - overall hummus is very healthy

well it is good for u but if it is not da real thing (if its not fresh) it can be fattening but eating in small amounts can be fine so overall hummus is OK now and again

Unfortunately it is high in fat. (But good fats!) Between the tahini and the olive oil, the fat grams really go up!

Like anything, don't consume too much of a good thing! But then again too much of a good thing is wonderful!
