So last week I had a pretty bad cold sore and then it went away and there was just a small scab and that got better. Then last night I gave my husband 'oral' and woke up this morning and I have an even worse cold sore. Is there a chance (if so like how small/big) that I could have transmitted this to my husbands penis, if so what do we do, how would we find out, is there anyway to find out? Maybe im being paraniod but I feel I should be. Thanks for any advice/help

I did not know there way a different in cold sores and herpes- can anyone tell me what this difference is- if there really is a difference?

Herpes simplex virus 1 and 2 cause both cold sores and genital herpes. Cold sores are usually caused by herpes simplex virus 1, while genital herpes are usually caused by herpes simplex virus 2.
If is possible to spread herpes through oral sex. Cold sores can spread to the genital area causing genital herpes, and vice versa.
I don't know what the possibility is though. I can't give you a percentage like 25% or 50%. If you and your husband are really concerned you can always go and get tested for herpes by a blood test. Good luck!

I got identified with the herpes simplex virus (type 2) about six yrs ago, when I was still in college and had a stupid one-night stand. You should both be tested for Herpes virus, oral and genital. Transmission is possible but if so it can be managed. See Doctor and be tested and sure. It is likely just a common cold sore. If not there are drugs to suppress outbreaks and guidelines for safe sex.

cold sores on the lip are herpes simplex 1 and yes you can give them to someone else.. its called Herpes simplex one, two and three .. stages. The internet is a highway of information on STD's .. you both should be checked out by a doctor.

yes, there is a chance. the only way to tell is to wait until he has an outbreak and then gets tested.
