I have a 5 month old JAck ruseel and he has a green discharge coming from his bits n bobs! i've taken him to the vet who siad it's probably hormonal most dogs have discharge and if you give them the chop that reduces it! he is too young for the chop atm but am considering it! the vet said its nothing to worry baout but did give me anti biotics probably more more my reassurance than his helath! as its been almost two weeks since the tablets and he still has disacharge! I'm not sure if it is infected, or if its where he is a small dog and he's getting caught on the grass that maybe giving if the green colour or if it is 'normal' like the vet says? wat do you think? Thanks

Right. it sounds to be like an infection but your puppy is young so its possibly hormonal as your puppy is goung through many changes right now! like puberty and im sure you cna remember how weird that was!!!! I would let it be and if you fo to get him done next month when he is 6 months old then you cna ask then that way you dont have to pay for an extra consultation fee with vet! if you are really concerened go back to vet with pictures of the discharge and maybe even a sample if possible that way they can test if it s a problem because if you've already been and they say its normal it probably is but green sounds a bit tooo werid for normal to me! seek vets advice again if need be and take samples!

Most intact males will have some discharge and many times it is green or yellowish in color. It is normal unless you are having a large amount.
If your vet has seen the dog and given antibiotics that would cure any infection it there was any present.
Having the dog neutered will cut down on the amount of it and in many cases remove it all together. Having him neutered will give a few other health benefits as well.

It's quite normal for a male dog to have a slight discharge - one of the charming things with male dogs!
Congratulations on not having your puppy castrated until he is mature. No doubt, you will be advised to get him done by people who don't mention the following potential health problems if he is done before 1 year old.
Increases the risk of osteosarcoma (bone cancer
Increases the risk of cardiac hemangiosarcoma
Triples the risk of hypothyroidism
Increases the risk of progressive geriatric cognitive impairment
Triples the risk of obesity.
Quadruples the small risk of prostate cancer
Doubles the small risk of urinary tract cancers
Increases the risk of orthopedic disorders
Increases the risk of adverse reactions to vaccinations

Not being able to see this green discharge I couldn't say about that. However having him neutered is a great thing. Besides the obvious no contributing to the gross pet overpopulation their are many health benefits. Make that appointment. Good luck...

If your vet says it is ok, then I think that you shoudl trust his/her expertise. If you don't trust your vet for any reason, register at another veterinary surgery and get yourself a second opinion.

In the meantime, ensure that you clean off the discharge regularly with a clean cloth and wash your hands thoroghly after playing with or handling your dog.

My puppy had this and i also checked with my vets and my aunt who is a vetenary nurse and they said it is normal.
It is mainly due to hormones due to the puppy growing and the fact that mummy dog is no longer there to clean then, they soon learn to clean thenselves and it will go on its own.
My pup grew out of it and has no problems now at all.

Yes it is normal. My male dog gets discharge too. He still gets some discharge even though he's been fixed. It is normal.

Well, if ur dog's a girl..discharges would be normal of course--it could be menstruation..but they're menstruation's usually red or white..but i guess it's normal for guy dogs too, wet dreams perhaps?? haha..just ask another vet--maybe it is hormonal, don't worry! vets know everything..^^
