While the Dalai Lama is not supportive of wars, it is worth noting that he is not wholly anti-violence, but supports it only as a means of absolute last resort. Also, he acknowledges that some of the Buddhists -do- want to stand and fight. See the link in the source area. :)

During the vietnam war, there were several Buddhist monks who sat in the middle of the street, poured petrol over themselves and set themselves alight.

There are so many Buddhists countries.
Why are you only focus on the a few.
I would name, Thailand, Burma has more Buddhism than any other country.
Sri Lanka has less % compare to those countries.

The people that say things like "Every religion has its extremists" are usually part of a religion that HAS several extremists! Probably ones that recently ran a kamikaze mission into another religions church and blew up before they realised that they got the wrong building.
