sweetie,
if you can't even groom your kitty, I doubt you should go anywhere NEAR it's nails!
Sounds like you need the A,B,C, of animal care. Get a book and go to the experts to help train YOU so you can train your cat.
For a start, you won't need to wash your cat. They do a very good job of it, themselves. If you wet it, you could give it pneumonia and it could die. If it has long hair, you could help it out by getting kitty used to a brush. Make a game of it at first but be very gentle and soon it will just stretch out and enjoy the brushing.
The nails have blood and nerves in it. If you don't know what you're doing, you could make it bleed and make it very sore. Get the cat a scratching post - this is what they're designed for. This will keep their nails down.
Cat are good for being a 'self clean machine' - all you need to do is love and care for it, give it safety and warmth, food and drink. And girl, get some advice.

First yes cats by instinct do not like water;however, you can bath them but they really shouldn't be done More than every 3 weeks.Cats do keep themselves clean.
You should also make sure you dry good as well( I use my hairdryer)
The main thing though in grooming a cat is to brush them.
Cutting their nails can be done however I would suggest you ask the vet to show you. If you cut to much then there is a blood vein and it hurts as well as bleed a good deal.

Hi there, No you do not clip a cats claws they need and use theses day to day.
As for grooming no you should not really bath them every week either. Cats do not like water (so yeah he may scratch your face) Just try getting a grooming brush and using this on him if you get him used to having this every few nights cats start to really like it. Also if he does get dirty and you think you need to bath him try just going over his coat with a wepwipe.
Good Luck

Cats really don't need baths. And you should never cut there nails. There claws are what they use to defend themselves with. And instead of giving your cat a bath I would just recommend brushing them every couple of days.

A cat will keep itself clean. It may enjoy being brushed with a soft brush.
You can buy special clippers for their nails. Just cut off the pointy tip every couple of weeks.

here is a website go to it and it will show you how to cut your kittens nails.
http://www.catcaresociety.org/images/trim.gif
how old is your kitten? if your kitten are some weeks that is a really bad idea to wash him because kittens are really sensitive and can catch colds really easy . Wait until he is 5-6 MONTHS old and just wash him with baby Johnson's shampoo wash him every month.
you can cut your kittens nail with a finger nail cutter but DO NOT CUT IT TWO LOW because that will hurt them

Basically cats hate water.it is foolish thing to cut his nails.they are its only weapon&tool. if u want to clean him donot press him in bath tub. instead u can clean him with least soaked cloth.it will be easy and effective.u can groom it with fine clean brush or comb keeping him purring in your lap.

Cats dont like water and have protective oils on theyre fur that keep them waterproof, the best thing to do is just comb him
I prefer a shaved pussy though
