Of course a God can hate. If you're talking of the Christian version of God, he displayed hate in various forms throughout the OT. I would think "familiarity breeds contempt" would be true of a God as it is of people.

From what I've read about the world that was here, before we were here, the larger groups of religous people spread their beliefs about a loving God at the point of a sword, or with a gun. The lesser groups spread their word of hate in the same manner, but with less success. That tells me that man is either very hypocritical, or God rewards those that preach love, whether they practice it or not. Yeah...I think both are true.

God does not love - God is Love
God is not perfect - God is perfection
See the difference?
God is the aspect itself, not an individual experiencing an aspect.
Hatred is contrary to love, therefore God is unable to hate.

Why not ask Him.
Deuteronomy 16:22 - Neither shalt thou set thee up any image; which the LORD thy God hateth.
Psalms 5:5 - The foolish shall not stand in thy sight: thou hatest all workers of iniquity.
Proverbs 10:29 - The way of the LORD is strength to the upright: but destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity.

True....if he is capable of love then hate follows...emotions are always changing...maybe he doesn't get hungry or have his stomach growl, but to have love you must have hate....and in the old testament god was really hating a lot!

if we say go can love, hate, that would mean we are comparing the 'god' to humans. how can someone say that god can love or hate, maybe these emotions don't exist for her/him, s/he just created it.
but if the religions say 'god loves' then 'god hates' is also possible

God is loving, but he is also just. he hates sin. over the history of the Church, God has punished a lot of evil-doers.

Since Man is allegedly made "In God's Image" we should expect that He has at least all the emotions we have.
