Karan was " Surya putra". He had " kavach" which protected him.It was given by Surya dev. He was going to give it to Duryodhan, but Lord Krishna came to know about it n prevented this . Lord Krishna advised Kunti to ask for kavach from Karan , so that he could b defeated.
