I am suffering from Obssessive Compulsive Disorder and Depression. I have been in the military for 5 years and I suffered from this prior to military enlistment. In the past 4 months, the symptoms have increased to the point that I can't focus and screw up all the time at work. I am being labeled as a "screw up" even though I can't help it. I have tried every medication and they don't work and counseling and doctors have failed to help as well. It is becoming near impossible to continue military service due to this condition. My chain of command and doctors have told me that I should not have been in in the first place. But the chain of command has a more negative approach--(to label you as a screw up as if you were doing it on purpose) they are aware of my condition, but it seemingly isn't being considered as an medical issue, but a disruption to them. What should I do? Am I fit to continue after 5 years and countless visits to doctors, chaplains, and counselors?

I think the real question is do you wish to continue. In your question I heard nothing positive about where you are. Maybe it is time to make a change. I do not know the specifics of your condition but I do know that when I suffered from depression I tried doctors and just about every medication out there. None of that worked for me either. The thing that really brought me back is just spending more time with myself. Taking time to think things through. And lastly making a conscious decision to look at things another way. It's hard to think that things get better but I promise you as you think of things in a new light with a conscious positive effort you will see an improvement. I hope you find what you are looking for and remember to always take care of yourself first and never let anyone tell you that your problems are not of the highest concern. Love yourself and you will be able to better love others. Blessed be.

ok for one i have to ask, are the doctors and counslers that you are seeing military? they are not the best doc in the world and if you are being labled as a screw up that is not unusual for the military they are going to try to weed out the weak so to speak. what you need to do is see a doc off base and see a therapist off base and see what they think. i feel if you are not suicidal or a danger to anyone you are fine. i am not in your chain of command either. you have been there for five years and they deffinatly owe you for serving our country. if you have any leave time i would take it if possible and see the docs off the base and get the good meds from docs who actually care about your mental state. don't get me wrong the military cares about your mental state but not in that way, they do have to be careful so don't think badly of them. they are doing their job. but talk to an outsider and see what that therapist says and so on and don't let them go on labling you as a screw up. you have been there for 5 years. i hope this helps

I really feel for you, it's appaling for them to victimise you in this way. If you've decided you've had enough, I'd tell them where to go and maybe try getting some help from people outside the military.

The questions you will possibly desire to be asking your self: Will my situation endanger the undertaking? Will my situation endanger my men? Will my situation endanger myself? If medicine would not paintings, then you incredibly're a danger to the undertaking, your men, and your self.
