trust me, they've seen what you've got down there so many times, it's nothing major. I just went for the first time in September, it was scary but my Dr. talked to me a LOT before I even had to sit back on the table. She told me everything she was going to do before she did it and it was WAY quick! Nothing hurts, nothing is bad, everything is normal. You're going to do it every year for the rest of your life, every time you go after this will be so easy. You'll be fine. Dont stress, ASK QUESTIONS. Make sure you laugh with the nurse before the Dr. comes in, explain that it's your first time, loosen up, text a friend and make a joke. You'll be fine. Just laugh at how awkward you feel and you'll be okay. Good luck, darlin! It's no biggie...JUST LAUGH!

Just try to relax. If you tense up, take some deep breaths. Close your eyes and picture yourself in a calm, stress-free place. Some parts of the visit may be uncomfortable. If you feel that way, just let the doctor know. I'm sure your gyno understands all the anexieties related to those types of visits. They will be sensitive to that.

Just remember that you will be draped, so it's not as though you will be lying there naked. Also remember that your doc has seen an AWFUL lot of women, and that he/she doesn't regard the body in quite the same way you or I would. Also remember there will be a nurse in the room if the doctor is male. At any point, if you feel uncomfortable, tell your doctor; also, mention to the nurse that this is your first gynecological exam, and she will help and explain things to you.

I just got through having a baby and trust me you'll never have to open your... more than you will then. Just remember that your doctor is a professional and has seen it all before. It usually takes less then 20 seconds to do what needs to be done. And as silly as this sounds keep your socks on, at least you wont feel completly naked ;)

when i go to any appointment which deals with something ''invasive'''ie: brazilian wax, therapist, and am self conscious, i just remind myself: no matter what i do, say, look like, smell like (and on and on!), it is nothing they haven't already seen before!to a professional it is just a day of work, i promise you would really have to be really unique for them to remember you when they leave the office

Try some breathing exercises to help you relax and try not to be nervous. Your doctor is a professional so you should feel safe in her (or his) hands.
