I would contend this has a lot to do with it in less-civilized nations. However, in developed nations, it's just a matter of how the genders behave, and what is considered acceptable by various people.

Dear Punter,
i'm not sure what you mean by "vulgar Scriptures".
One of the first rules of research is that correlation does not imply causality. No one will disagree with you that violence against women is a large problem in our country. But there is no case study to date that i'm aware of where people who have problems with harassing females are measured on their love or adherement to the Scriptures.
i would also say that if there were such a study there would be many, many other factors involved.
As someone who studies the Scriptures the Bible describes a person who is yielding to the Scriptures as being filled with the Spirit and involved in that is: love, joy, peace, patience, goodness, kindness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. These characteristics don't seem to describe someone who is abusive.
i think that female harassment has many causes but the Scriptures is not one of them. If you study the Scriptures you will find that there teachings oppose and do not support ill treatment of females.
Hope that helps. Kindly,
Nickster

I think a lot of men arnt facing the fact that arrested emotional development has everything to do with it. Many woman are also in the same boat. i.e woman who choose men who abuse them, believe me I wish I could blame this one on all the men out there. There are so many problems with this question I dont even know where to begin, all be it, it's a great question. But I would have to say it is more than just vulgar scriptures.
Education has its place
relationship to parents especially ones own mother
Studies have also shown that after "superbowl" Womens abuse cases are the highest just after the game. (What she didnt buy you enough beer?)
Drugs of course are another factor
moslty it has to do with a mans feeling of loss of control so he has to do something to gain it back, abuse, sexual. etc.

I don't think so. Abuse is not unique to any religon, class, or nationality.
Have you seen the upsurge in domestic violence in Muslim households around the world?
Are verse in the Quran responsible for this violence against Muslim women?
Most women in Muslim societies do not report sexual harrasment rape or domestic violence, so I doubt you will find any reliable statistics you could cite.
Here are some links that might help you see a more balanced view of the problem and how it affects Muslim women around the world as well.

How many of the violent incidents which you cited were perpetrated by so called religious people? Until you get the stats there is nowhere to go with this suggestion.

Good. So islam is better?
Please explain a famous example in afghanistan where it was the taliban's decision to have a girl raped by the town council because she dated a boy that was not of her class.
And I do mean PLEASE explain this to me.
Update:
Okay...I'm going back a bit and my memory does a little mix'n'match sometimes. Sorry.
I think this one is the story I alluded to. There is an islamic practice called "jirga" which was used to "sentence" a girl to being gang-raped not because of HER dating outside her class, but because her BROTHER did. The girl's rape was a punishment to the brother.

does stoning count as harassment?
And can we see same statistics for Pakistan?
Oh wait, they do not allow women to respond to surveys.
Too bad. I am sure they'd tell how beautiful their life is.
