I don't know all the different ways but i can tell you how it was given to me. Mine was a mixture of 5-6 drugs given by intravenous drip(2bags) into the vein on the back of my wrist. Plus 2-3 drugs given in pill form at the same time. A warm electric blanket was placed over my forearm to alleviate the burning sensation as the drugs went into my body. The nurses said it was akin to battery acid and they were right, it was a very hot feeling, so much so that my veins collapsed on the first of 10 fortnightly doses but i did not know that at the time. I did for the second dose, within a minute the pain was intolerable and i had to stop. I had to finish the course so they put a thin plastic tube called a 'pick line' into my elbow crease(24/7) with a 'tap' on the end of it, reaching up to my heart. The idea being your heart distributes the drugs instantly around your body lessening the burning feeling and it worked a treat! I believe in America they put the tube in as a matter of course but not in britain yet, only when there is no other option. It does have it's risks. It would have saved my arm from 'melting' though! I can also tell you that every course of treatment is 'tailor made' for every patient and their cancer and the effects differ from person to person so everybody's experience is different and this was just my experience.
Try looking on the web, there is a wealth of information out there, far more than you will get here but i hope i have given you an insight into a couple of different ways that it can be applied, all the best for the future.

Many different ways are possible and it often depends on the type of cancer and where it is. Administration routes include: through injection into a muscle or vein, through an IV drip in a vein or through a port in the chest, arm, etc., through a spinal injection, oral pill form.

Here is a link for more information about chemo administration.
