At my church we have this thing called feeding of the 5 thousand, and we fix food and take it out to people who don't have the money to buy food.

Within walking distance of my apartment, there are three...Lutheran, Episcopalian, and Methodist...which have 'soup kitchens' for the homeless. And a hop on up the street, at a Methodist church, there is a 'food pantry' which provides food mostly for poor women with children. Though I am a nonbeliever I have volunteered at two of them in the past, and I would now if I weren't disabled. It should be said, I suppose, that the first three on the list have progressive church congregations, that is to say, liberal. The wealthiest church in my city, a Southern Baptist mega-church that's on cable all over the country, gives no food to the many poor and homeless in its midst.

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. We have a Humanitarian Organization that is part of the church and helps people around the world. We provide food, clothing, and other supplies to needy people everywhere - regardless of their religious affiliation or lack thereof. Our church was among the first responders to "Katrina, and the Big Tsunami. We are still providing service and support in both areas, among many others. We also have a welfare program which serves members of our church - providing for their needs as necessary.
Money for these projects comes from donations to the church.
On the first Sunday of every month, members are asked to go without 2 meals and donate what they would have spent for those meals to our Fast Offering Fund. That money is used to care for the needy.
Donations are accepted to the Humanitarian Fund from anyone who wants to donate. Money is used 100% for humanitarian aid. Those who run the program are paid either from other church funds or, they donate their time and pay their own expenses as missionaries for our church.
Our church also has farms and canneries and members donate time to work the farms and to prepare and can the produce. It is stored in warehouses around the world ready to assist those in need.
Our Welfare Programs are amazing! There is much more to it than I have space to share here. - So, yes, we have food and more for the poor!

Most do.
In my experience many Catholic churches have pantries and soup kitchens. Also many independent outreach churches have plenty.
Best thing to do is contact the churches directly or seek information at any local homeless shelter or even sometimes thrift stores.
Some churches even have the ability to help with bills and medical issues too.
God Bless.
