You have? I've never seen such a thing. Mushrooms should be wiped clean with a paper towel. You can cut the ends off the bottom, but.... peel them? No.

rubbing alcohol will kill all the germs...as far as taste, don't do it. For a better method, use a moist paper towel or plain towel and gently rub the outside of the mushrooms. This gets all the dirt and grime off the outer layer. The key to the paper towel is, it can't be too wet or too dry. It has to be somewhere in the middle.

no you do not peel mushrooms, but some mushrooms may have very tough stems, so you will have to figure out which ones and discard them (the stems).

No you don't have to peel them. But you should wipe them off very lightly with a dry sponge.

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooo....
Never.
Eating uncooked mushrooms may not suit your taste.
Dip them in beaten egg/milk and then in flour or crumbs. Deep fry them in hot oil for a few minutes turning often.
MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
THEY'LL COME BACK FOR MORE
