Of course a doctor is the first person to ask, but we humans often carry our stress in our lower backs. Kidney pain doesn't go to the hips, but it's best you just ask the doc, okay?

Have you had kidney problems before? Did you do any strenuous activity to throw out your back? If the pain is mid line and not on your flanks then most likely is back pain. If you have pain just above your lowest floating ribs paraspinall y speaking then it might be the kidneys. You need to be assessed by a medical doctor or a Chiropractor to be able to determine the actual cause. Good Luck.

If it's in the hips on both sides, I'd say it's more likely back pain. Lower back pain is quite common. Try doing some stretches for it-- like toe touches, or laying on the floor and bringing your knees up to your chest and holding it there for 10-20 seconds. Do it a few times. Then, take turns bringing each knee up one at a time and holding it there. If it relieves the pain, then you know its your back muscles.
Blood in the urine or problems urinating are a tell-tale sign of possible kidney problems.

Oh Boy, sounds familiar!! I had the exact same thing, and also thought that it may be my kidneys. Turns out it was my sciatic nerve. I had a disc ruptured into my sciatic nerve and of course your sciatic nerve runs through your hip and down the side of your right leg. Mine got REALLY bad before I got help for it and I ended up the permanent nerve damage, so I recommend you see a doctor as soon as possible, and ask for a MRI, alot of disc pain doesn't show up on X Ray. And do your self a favor if it does turn out that it is your sciatic nerve, go to a Neurologist and don't let anyone else touch you!! Trust Me.

Doesn't sound like kidney problem. a way to know this is an urine analysis. It rather sounds like a joint problem. lower back (sacrum area?) and hips: could well be nerves going through those joints, or the joint surfaces of the bones could be inflamed, stretched etc etc. Do you mostly work sitting? you should see an orthopedic doctor if possible. Don't go too long withb the problem. could be too late to do something, u know...
