It is his prey drive... surely you looked into the type of dog and his characteristics before making a purchase? Jack Russels are high prey driven dogs and are for owners who appreciate that and want to entertain their dog for years... Now what you can do is get a small buggy whip at the farm store.. buy a chamois and tie it to the end... now go out in the yard and stand still and swing it around and let your little dog expend all that energy... 2 tennis balls will work also but you will have to be a little more active using them.
Keep small tugs and such handy and replace them for your hands very quickly and he will soon get the idea...
Good Luck

Don't ever hit him when he does that, because then the game becomes more exciting to him and he will do it more. You must ignore him totally. Take a position where he can't bite you, stand completely still, don't push him around, don't look at him, just say No and ignore him for some time. He will soon realize that this behaviour doesn't reward him with play.

For the nipping try this. This method helped me allot. It has given me much better results than the many other methods I have tried. This was written for Corgi puppies but it applies to most all puppies. Once you get the web page up scroll down to were it talks about nipping.

bite him back and im serious, if you bite him back not hard just enough for him to notice it... he learns you are the alpha male and will stop... its a proven fact you also put him on his back and hold him there with your hand over his chest this also lets him know you are the alpha male..... its a training trick that works well i learnd this from a trainer here in california and it worked on my rott puppy who is now 5 years old

He's a puppy so he will chew on everything now...so you need to start training him and redirecting him to toys he can chew on. Tell him NO(in a firm voice) everytime he bites at you. DO NOT HIT HIM ...WONT TEACH HIM ANYWAY.......
Lots of chew toys....

you should pop him on the nose every time he goes to bite you. the nose is a dog's soft spot, and popping a dog on his nose is like spanking a child; they'll learn their lesson
