i'm four months from being 21 and i want to take a bottle of wine (it has somewhat sentimental value to me) on a plane from virginia to arizona. would the TSA/ baggage handlers give me a hard time about it? has anyone else tried this before?

You can't carry it on, only in your checked baggage. You are under age to be in possession of it, but baggage handlers don't check your age. That isn't their job.

No liquids can be taken in hand luggage . I have been succesful in bringing bottles from Italy in my hold luggage, lots of bubble wrap. No breakages yet!

Doubt they would even notice, but my advice would be to call the airport(s) and ask. Better safe then sorry, you don't want them to throw away your momento if they do have an issue with it.
