however, we are there now. Since we have thrown the country into utter chaos dont we have some obligation to try to clean the mess up? I dont think terrorists were much of an issue there before we invaded but we created the perfect breeding ground for them now. Isnt it our moral responsibility to try and repair what our current administration has so messed up?

I think we are obligated to clean up. However that is not the military's job. The job of security belong's to the Iraqi's and the job of the U.S. is to provide the financial backing to help clean up the mess we made. One startling fact everyone seems to be overlooking is this: We are not fighting Iraqi's. We are fighting people from many nations who came to Iraq for the sole purpose of killing Americans. War does not create peace. It only creates more war.

If you dropped a bomb in my neighborhood for the purpose of killing a bad guy and that same bomb kills my sister you will have me as an enemy for life no matter what your purpose is. That is the mess we are making over there and we need to cease those operations immediately. That doesn't mean give up on Iraq. It means work with the UN and all the world powers to find a better solution!

Tough question. Problem IS, -we're PART of the problem. If I were "king" (instead of George II ), I'd sit down with all the Middle Eastern leaders I could round up- and ask THEM to hammer out a plan for Iraq (complete with 10 or 20 thousand troops from EACH country)- that would be put into place, as we gradually withdrew OUR forces (at say- 10,000 a month). And if it all went down the drain anyway- well, at least our guys won't still be dying on the streets of Bagdad 5 years from now...

Hmmnnn. Gee--kinda makes you think that the entire objective of this Administration was to get us in there no matter what--and low and behold....

They knew that from the get go. They created the mess so that the (R) "talking point" you just repeated would be the self fullfilling prophecy. I'll concede that Bush is a retard, but he had way too much input on the decision to go over there not to know exactly what would happen. His father never crossed that line for the same reason. You don't ignore every major intelligence expert, fire the ones that don't agree, and out a covert spy whose husband put your insanity on the front page--just because your stupid. Well, that's debatable--lol.

It's all about the oil, no-bid contracts for his buddies (halliburton/Blackwater--run by a Christian fundamentalist), and procuring the 30 year oil contracts for American and British Big oil entities who divided up Iraq's oil resources during that fabled Energy meeting with Dick Cheney all because the sanctions against Iraq were about to be lifted and Saddam was going to go to the Euro and open up his Oil reserves to Foreign Oil companies that did not include the forementioned entities. Follow the money---find the reasoning. Do you think that the Saudi's would allow Saddam to put oil on the market that would directly compete with OPEC--GMAF break!! These are the facts--researchable and easily verified. Now which part of getting out of there ASAP based on the initial reasonings for this occupation make no sense? The Iraqi people want us out. If there is bloodshed, then so be it--it won't be nearly as much as our forces have already caused to be shed(665,000+ and counting).

I think of it this way sometimes too--If Bush would have just stood at the podium and described Saddam's position at the time regarding oil, and that we were going over there to secure American oil interests and this intention was clearly stated---I'd of enlisted myself.

Excuse me?

If other people had stayed out of it like Sadr and Al Qaeda it would have been over and our Men and Women would be home now....without these influences..... I believe the Sunni's and Iraqi's would have worked it out themselves....

You say current admin like it's a bad word....

We had a strong military, Thanks to Presidents Reagan and Daddy Bush....Then along came Bill ....cutting the military so low....blame whomever you wish because you will anyway..But get this....The most important thing is Our Soldiers get thru this as safely as possible and not have to hear all this ....

Its a quagmire, and I was against it too, but I really think it would be worse if we just left now.
I feel that the troop surge is too small, and we really need to get serious, and beef up the troops a lot and give them what they need if we are going to do any good there at all. If not maybe we should just cut our losses.

we have bee there 4 yrs now, how long doesw our moral responsibility last, it seems very clear not enough Iraqi's are interested in protecting their country, instead they fight to protect their religion, their tribe, their power or to return to power, etc. More time? What utter absurdity.

I was against it as well, and I agree we have an obligation to clean up our mess -- I just don't think we're trying to do that, nor do I think our current policies and strategies will achieve it.

Well, we don't seem to want to clean it up, if we did, Al-Sadr would be dead by now. Get rid of politically correct rules of engagement and stop pretending these people like us and things might get better...
