It seems nobody knows the Bible for themselves but follow the teachings of ministers instead of the teachings of Jesus himself.

It seems many Christians are that in name only.
It seems people attend services to be pacified, tickled and entertained. Read Acts and look at the church today...see a difference? I do.
Will not God require an account to the churches today?
Like Jesus said "..when the Son of Man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?"

I'm going to go with ignorance as the greatest problem with Christians today. Then of course there is the fact that many of them feel they have the god-given right to tell others not only how they should live but how the must live.

The biggest problem with churches today is that many have gotten away from their mission and message. By getting politically involved, they've gotten away from their purpose. GOD. The only thing that should come from a pulpit is GOD. Period. WWJD? Exactly what he did do. He had nothing to do with politics of any kind. He was the most focused person in history, and his only focus was GOD.

A very accurate observation. You are absolutely correct.

2 Timothy 3:1, 5 foretold that in the last days there would be people "having a form of godly devotion, but proving false to its power".

Although you list three very large problems that are found in professed Christian religions, the largest problem is the lack of love for God. People would much rather do things their own way than consider God's thoughts on the matter. It's lack of love that moves them to be ignorant of the Bible. They don't want to know God or his ways (compare 2 Thessalonians 1:8). It is lack of love that moves them to be hypocrites, claiming to be followers of Christ, but by actions showing that they are not (see Matthew 7:21-23). And, it is lack of love that moves them to be lethargic; lazy. Those who love God are actively proclaiming his wonderful works, just as Psalm 150:2 says:

"Praise him for his works of mightiness.
Praise him according to the abundance of his greatness".

These three also afflict the larger culture- not just the churches.

Of course, if I really were to go to seminary and become a minister or whatever they're called, I have no doubt that one of the "flock" would have a bead drawn on me not too long into my new career.

Hypocrisy, lethargy and ignorance are sure signs of trouble. Also control, coercion, greed, falsehoods and brainwashing.

None of the above.
The problem in the church today is not that we don't love Jesus enough.
The problem is that we do not hate sin like Jesus hates it.

Well I say hypocrisy, but I am seriously biased and thus probably wrong.

Hypocrisy is a major peeve of mine... so my normally disciplined mind just can't get around that little thorn.
