THEIR ARE BOTH GOOD AND BAD CARBS PEOPLE. Bad carbs are found in all of your processed foods and are used in the body as a means to store energy for potential use. More often than not, the energy that is being stored and people refer to as turning into fat, is fat. Carbohydrates found in your processed foods lead to the formation of fat storage cells within the body. Good carbohydrates on the other hand are found in all green, leafy vegetables. These carbohydrates are healthy and necessary, but it is because of this misinterpretation of information that people believe diets such as Atkins to be healthy lifestyle approaches.

Carbs are a dietary necessity for healthy life. But like anything else they are best in moderation. And your choice of carbs is important.
Highly refined carbs (sugar, white flower) provide sugar to the blood stream that shoots the blood sugar level way up and real fast. You get lots of energy. But the blood sugar level drops quickly as well and you energy drops. So you get this energy spike and then you crash.
For diabetics this rapid sugar infusion can't be processed and this causes problems. If you do it enough your body will eventually fail to process the sugar and boom your in deep kimchee.
Less refined carbs convert into sugar more slowly so the sugar level spike/crash is much more gradual. Your body can keep up and process the sugar efficiently.
Think of it like a puddle of gasoline and a log. You hold a match to the fuel and poof a blast of heat, maybe you get burned, and then poof the fire is out and you are cold again.
You hold a match to the log and it burns real slow, its not dangerous and it keeps you warm for a long time as it slowly burns.
Learn to read labels on food. Did you know that white flour that is called "enriched wheat flower" means that the flower has been processed so much that all nutrients are gone. It is enriched when they try to add some nutrients back in.

Carbs aren't bad. Its the overconsumption of carb's thats bad. The average American (or Western diet eater) consumes over 300% of the grams of carbohydrate energy they need for daily activity. All those extra grams of carbs have to go somewhere, so the body (being a marvellous conservation machine) starts tucking it away, like a dog with a bone, as fat for future hard times.
Remember that there are good and bad carbs- that is true. Good carbs come from foods with complex carbo chains that break down slowly in your intestines for slow absorption by your cells. Ex. whole grains ( i mean "real" whole of the wheat germ), fruit, beans, veggies.
Bad carbs involve foods with refined white or wheat flour, like pasta, cakes, pastry, cookies...pretty much anything thats a tasty baked item. The carbs go right to ur cells, causing fat build-up.

Carbohydrates, including complex ones, are all sugars, and they all prompt an insulin response to keep the blood sugar from going too high, which can kill you. There are essential amino and fatty acids but no essential carbohydrates. If you compare how people ate and looked sixty years with today, you’ll notice that obesity wasn’t that much of an issue despite the shortage of the low-fat garbage that lines store shelves today. People ate more fatty foods back then but were leaner. If your grandparents are still alive, you might want to ask them about the days when bread and potatoes were widely known to be fattening.

They're good for you if used in moderation. I think the reason people are saying "no carbs" is because a lot of the things with substantial amount of carbs also have many calories (bread, pasta, cereal, etc.).

Carbs are GOOD for you. They give you energy. When you don't use that energy, it turns into fat. Now people think of carbs as bad, but really it just means they are not getting the exercise to burn it off.
Just dont eat too much!

from time to time the food companies, when their products aren't selling well and they have to move them, well they put things on their product boxes and cans to attract customers.
I too have heard that carbs are good for runners. And, in fact, I lost 12 pounds having spaghetti every day for a month so it can't be all that bad.

They are great if you intend to use them immediately, like in sports. This gives you the energy you need to perform at your best level.
If you choose to sit in front of the couch afterwards, it becomes fat. That is bad
It is basically a double edged sword.
