When we are humble we are more teachable. We can recognize the spirit more quickly. We are not so quick to judge but more willing to serve and try harder to do our best!

The real meaning of good leadrership is to serve. This is true in every walk of life or endeavor you may want to lead in. If you want to lead, remember that it is a constant washing of metaphorical dirty feet.
Humility teaches you to be a good leader. You do not need the glory for yourself, so long as the job gets done: you have what it takes to allow other people to own what is good about their work or efforts.
Another practical advantage of humility is that nobody ever slams you back in your place, and you seldom over-reach and do harm through inadequacy.
Humility pays! lol

Humility allows us to open ourselves to possibilities we would not otherwise consider. It allows us to recognize mistakes and correct them. If we allow ourselves to be humble, we are just so much more available to help those in need. I could go on and on about humility (which I sorely lack!) The world would be a much better place if we were all a little more humble.

To have a sense of humility is simply to understand that you are not the measure of all things.

You need to ask people like.....Buddha, Jesus, Mother Teresa, Lao Tzu, Gandhi, etc...
To be able to get past the self and into the realm of understanding that all people are equal and you are no better or worse that anyone else except through your actions; that all life has the same value, is to understand the teachings of most all religions. To live your life at that level of selfless understanding is to be enlightened.

There is such a thing as being too humble, but the way I see it, there is a spectrum between being humble and being a blustering jerk. People on one end are much, much easier to get along with than people on the other end.

Oh crap, I thought you said huMANity at first. Now I'll have to delete my original answer.
Humility? I don't know, you stumped me. Of course that doesn't mean pretentiousness is the only alternative.

Boasting is a heathen tradition, and a part of one of our holy Rites. Wordfame is won by naming your deeds.
As we say here in Texas, it ain't braggin' if you can do it. :-)
