Hi G G Allin,
If the student is at risk at harming him or her self, the teacher did what he or she was supposed to do which was to report the issue to keep the student safe. However, there is a flip side of this, a person who may be depressed or who may have other mental health issues trusted this teacher enough that the student felt comfortable to communicate any problems he or she may be going through and would feel VERY betrayed and would have problems opening up or trusting anyone again.
Sincerely,
Alice H.

this is a question of ethics...after the virgina tech massacre, there was a lot of this kind of talk...when is the right time to intervene in someone else's life without their permission? it really depends on the circumstances surrounding this particular situation...i would say its probably the best for the student in the end because perhaps the student will be getting the help he needs which he otherwise wouldnt because he is too afraid or too ashamed to reach out himself...but there is also the consideration that the teacher was overreacting and the student has suffered needless humiliation because of it...more detailed information would be nice...

i don't think so. it sounds as though the teacher was looking out for his best intersest. and that way the student is getting the help that he or she needs. and if the teacher felt as though either himself or the student was in danger that was the right thing to do. the will get the student on some meds that will help them and then maybe they will get to feeling better and may be able to succeed in life. hope this helps

Potentially, an untreated person with mental health problems, can cause huger problems for others he comes in contact with.
The mental health center is there for everyone's safety.
Your participation may result in a more fulfilling life than what you have experienced to date.

yes it tis bad for the student. but it is also good for the student. teachers are trained to detect stuff like that so they should be helping the student. but if the teacher did it to divert attention from themselves the the teacher should be the one who had the cops called on them

Yes that is bad.
It's up to the parents not the teacher.
