Actually, science is defined as "knowledge or a system of knowledge covering general truths or the operation of general laws especially as obtained and tested through scientific method." This means that things are not presumed to be true. They are tested, using verifiable, reproducable outcomes. Once an outcome varies from the expected result, the hypothesis must be changed. Only when the outcome has been reproduced over and over does the hypothesis become a theory. A scientific "theory" is not the same as a layman's theory. The Theory of Gravity, for example, was regarded as a virtual fact shortly after it reached the status of "theory". That's a far cry from "'its real becasue it says its real'". Have you ever actually taken a course in science?

LOL.. no science does not employ circular logic. It is real because it can be tested, and retested, and when the results turn out the same.. ta da!!... we understand something new about the world. It is in no way circular.
Have you ever taken a pill for a headache? Or had a tooth filled? Do you drive a car? Have you ever flown on an airplane, or seen one in the sky? Or what about the cool computer on which you are reading this answer? You benefit from science everyday, in very real ways.

Oh, jeez.
This is satire, right?
Let me explain the philosophy of science to you. Science isn't about absolute truth, that's a misinterpretation. Science doesn't claim to have that (absolute truth = ultimate nature of reality). Science is based on face (what is observable).
Also, science is real because it's a word the humans made up to describe the gathering of empirical evidence to make accurate predictions about natural phenomenon, because saying "science" is a lot more efficient than saying all that. It's obviously real because people *do* gather empirical evidence and make predictions. Obviously. God is a little different.

That's not what science says. Philosophers of science realize that nothing can truly be proven, and so they except reproducible measurement as the closest thing to proof. Because if we can't be certain the natural world is real, what is?
Let's say someone was cutting your arm with a knife, and for some reason, you had the religious belief that the knife couldn't harm you. You believed that no matter how much it hurt, how faint you felt, how much blood you lost, the knife wasn't really cutting you. Which is more real, your religious belief, or your senses?

The only circular logic here is that which your trying to apply.
Science proves itself on a regular basis. Those who use the scientific method, ask a question, and then set about finding the answer.
Religion, on the other hand, rationalizes itself everyday. It offers no evidence of its truth. Those who use religion to answer their questions, start with the answer (god did it, for instance), and then attempt to rationalize that answer to suit their needs.
Science doesn't make any sort of claims to being 'the truth'. It is merely a collection of tools used to find the truth. Holy books, however, do make the claim that they are true, while offering nothing to verify the claim.

I'm not an Atheist, but science is never circular logic:
Science = investigation, finding evidences & supporting them with PROVED hypothesis (Proved through testing them extensively). Where the hell is the circular logic?

Who told you the lie that anyone ever claimed science is real because it says it's real? Science is real because of things like empirical evidence and deductive reasoning, things that fundies like you just don't understand, or more often, won't understand. There are none so ignorant as those who are willfully so. Now shut up.

"there is no evidence that science is real!!! i.e "its real becasue it says its real". circular logic! "-There is no evidence for God.
However, there is evidence for the earth being older than the Bible says it is.
There is evidence for evolution.
There are many religions, so the chances of chosing the right one is slim.

Nice try but science is the study of reality not sky daddies
What's amatta beebee?! You afraid of not being the center of the universe? Afraid of not being "special"? Afraid that your kindergarten teacher lied to you? Well the teacher did. So if you can't handle that it's because you are weak. You should just disappear and leave the Earth for the strong and noble people. Those more worthy than you.

A foolish argument. All theories, including the theory that the grocery store will be in the same place it was when you next need milk, are based on models. If the model works, the question of its underlying reality, if any, is irrelevant. The nice thing about the scientific model is that it does work, and lets you read these words.
