Your question/argument makes no sense the way you worded it. If you want a discussion on the topic, I suggest you do some rewording, it'll be worth the 5 points.

There's a difference between doctrinal mythology and knowledge. For example, we approach God so that we may know Him, His qualities, and how to be like Him. This knowledge is the target of spiritual growth. The greatest teacher of this spiritual knowledge is the Holy Spirit and great love, as you say.

Your Question makes no sense. But yes God is approached with great Love. Maybe you should read up on Mormon beliefs so you understand exactly what it is we believe! What rituals your talking about I'm not sure. Partaking of the Sacrament on Sunday or Baptism by immersion and receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost? What great knowledge is it that you think we have to have. To know God is to love him. The more you know about him and the Savior, His son, Jesus Christ, The more you want to serve them and Thru serving and obeying the commandments the more you love them. What is it exactly you were trying to find out here? - - We need more information!

Ummm, if you're going to discuss religion with someone, don't you think it would be wise to know something of religion first? The way your question sounds, it's like going to debate... say microbiology with someone studying the subject when I don't have any previous knowledge on the subject; it's foolish of me to think that I can have a decent discussion or debate if that's the case. I'm not sure if that's what you're actually asking though, you're wording is a little strange...
By the way, did you really need to single out the mormon church for this question? It can be applied to... well any religion that believes in ancient scripture.

21 ¶ Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
(New Testament | Matthew 7:21)
How can we do the will of God, if we do not learn his will?
How can we serve our God, if we do not know him?
Knowledge is not for arguement, rather it is a way that we can learn of God. Doctrine is not dead when we practice it:
20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?
21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works.....
22 Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect?
24 Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.
(New Testament | James 2:20 - 22,24)

It depends. If you are arguing about christianity you should know the scriptures (at least the bible) because that's what its all about.
Only if you are one of those people that make up their own religion so they don't have to change their ways - then you dont need scriptures.
