They will point out Issiah 53, but the funny thing is that nowhere in the chapter dose it mention or refer to the messiah in any way shape or form.

then again this is coming from the people that believe that stepping on a snake is a prophecy.

Isaiah 53 is the main scripture used to form an argument for the Messiah's ability to atone for the sins of the world:

4 Surely he took up our infirmities
and carried our sorrows,
yet we considered him stricken by God,
smitten by him, and afflicted.

5 But he was pierced for our transgressions,
he was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was upon him,
and by his wounds we are healed.

11 After the suffering of his soul,
he will see the light of life and be satisfied ;
by his knowledge my righteous servant will justify many,
and he will bear their iniquities.

12 Therefore I will give him a portion among the great,
and he will divide the spoils with the strong,
because he poured out his life unto death,
and was numbered with the transgressors.
For he bore the sin of many,
and made intercession for the transgressors.

The name of Jesus may not have been mentioned prior to his birth, but a quick look into the prophetic words of the OT will reveal plenty of words about who the Messiah would be and what he would do.

Jesus was/is named in the Old Testament.
Jesus was/is referred to in the Old Testament 55 times.

Check out the blue letter Bible online.

You can find all the names & references to Jesus in the Old Testament and where they are found.

But to answer your question, read Matthew 2.

What happened is that King Herod heard that The Magi were in Jerusalem asking, "Where is the newborn child who is The King of The Jews?" Herod was troubled and sent out people to find The Magi and to also find out where The Christ had been born and where He was. Herod told the wisemen (The Magi) to find The Christ and come back and tell him where The Christ was, so that he could come worship him too. The Magi, having seen and spoken with King Herod & having been warned by God in a dream, knew King Herod meant The Christ harm so after they found The Christ, gave Him their gifts and worshipped him, they returned home by a different route to avoid King Herod.

God also warned Joseph & Mary of King Herod's intent and told them to go to Egypt until King Herod died to protect themselves and almost 3 year old Jesus.

When King Herod learned of this, his fury was such that he sent soldiers out to kill every male child 2 years old and younger in Jerusalem and all along the coasts around Jerusalem.

God and his prophets spoke of Jesus in the Old Testament as: The Messiah/The Christ/The Lamb Of God/Son Of God but not by name or the names of Joseph & Mary or where and when Jesus would be born to protect what King Herod did from happening all through the Old Testament by Kings who feared, resented, or were jealous.

in the OT many works of Jesus have bin FORESHADOWED for example: when Cain killed his brother Abel the Bible says in Genesis 4:10 it says" Your brother's blood cries out to me from the ground. God's communicates and reasons through the blood [which explains His OT desire for sacrifices]. this foreshadowed the sacrifice that Jesus made through shedding his blood on the cross

there are many other ex. but most are hard to explain

Prophecy never too clear. Only when it happens we know the prophecy is true. That's why the name Jesus doesn't appear in OT. But Joshua did. Both name have same meaning.
