A fundie is a fundamentalist - somebody who takes doctrine literally. For instance, somebody who believes the universe and earth were created in 6 days, that Jonah was swallowed by a large fish, that job was tormented by the devil, etc. All religions can have fundamentalists (though obviously Muslim fundamentalists would believe different things from Christian fundamentalists).

They are people that mistranslate the Quran or Bible and forgo the parts that they don't like. For instance, an xtian fundie may bash gays because the bible says not to lie with another man as he would a woman. Yet they thumbs down people that quote Luke 19, which says to kill those that are enemies of Jesus.

It's a term for a Fundamentalist. It usually is used to mean a Protestant Fundamentalist, but there are fundamentalist movements within nearly all religions, which is why one occasionally hears the term "fundamentalist Muslim", and so forth. Fundamentalism generally implies heavy literalism, black-and-white scriptural interpretations, and extreme conservatism.

A religious fundamentalist is someone who literaly believes in their book of doctrine, instead of naturalistic explanations of the natural world..

In short, they are fruitcakes who embrace denial, ignorance, misinformation and outright lies in order to attempt to perpetuate the credibility of their faith.

For example, ther are many christian fundementalists on these forums..

I think a fundie does not necessarily mean someone who takes the bible literally. It is a derogatory term meaning to denote a certain mental image of a pious white protestant Christian. This image is mostly imaginary, but it satisfies the scoffer, so there you go.
