Before my grandma died (she had cancer, so she knew her time was ending) she told me that she needed me to know one thing ....
"Your dad is not your dad"
I have asked family members, and the only person to agree is my aunt.
Well my grandma has gone, and my aunt refuses to talk. But ..... I did ask my mom and dad, and was told to leave well enough alone.
Now here we are 10 years later, my parents have disowned me and have told my kids that my aunt is really my mom. When I confront I am told it was said in anger.
My grandpa just died a few weeks ago, and now my cousin is being told that she was actually raised by my grandparents because she was an illegetimate lovechild of my grandpa and aunt.
When we have researched, we have found out that infact my aunt, her mom, (or so we have been told) was a drug addict, and my grandpa was a bootlegger. (for thse who don't know ... a drug dealer of his day)
How do we find the truth and how do we know who to believe?

I was disowned for asking too many questions.
And My original birth certifacate was lost....I had to order one and the one I ordered does have my dads name.
you may also want to know that my grandma never ever lied to me, and I believe her more than anyone because it was as if that one secret haunted her and she had to come clean to die happy,

That's awful. You have a right to know. What is on your birth certificate? Are there any old people still alive who knew your grandpa? I'm sure it would've been quite scandalous at the time. Someone other than your immediate family must know the truth. Your parents (?) are irresponsible. You may need to know the information for health reasons etc. Good luck.

Wow, sounds pretty far out, doesn't it? First of all, why would so many relatives have kids and then have another relative raise them. It's like they played musical chairs with kids. Sounds to me like they were trying to get back at each other for something or other by telling you and your cousin the things they did. What does your birth certificate say on the mother and father line? You could find out if your parents are your parents by doing a DNA test. I would encourage talks with the relatives. Tough one.

Is it important to know the truth? Sometimes, it is not the matter of the biogical link but the life growing up. If your father that has taken care and loved you for all your life told you when you are an adult that he is not your biological father, does it make a difference? Would your love for him lessen or vice versa?

Do you really need to find the truth?

I don't know what to say to help you discover the truth I'm sorry but I just wanted to say that I am so sorry you are being put through this by these heartless, cruel people. Hold onto your cousin, be there for each other and love your children with all your worth.
I am truthfully sending you all my most sincere wishes for a happy ending for you both. Good luck.

Im sorry to hear that about your grandma and grandpa. If she never lied to you then you should belive her but thats all you will know unless someone comes forward and tells you because if you keep asking questions you may never find out who your father is

What does your birth certificate say? If it lists the wrong person, I doubt you will ever discover the truth, unless you can convince a family member that knows the truth to tell you the truth.

DNA testing. It is the only way to be sure.
You will either need to voluntarily (or involuntarily) retieve DNA samples from all parties involved.
You have a right to know. It may cost you some money, but if itis that important, itshould be worth it, right?

That is so sad. Short of having a paternity test there is no way of ever finding out the truth. Good luck

SCIENCE! Find a DNA lab I guess. I really don't know how it works but wouldn't it be cool to find who your parents are by science alone!
P.S Be happy, life is good. Regaurdless of who your family is. Ya love em right?

I'm not sure you'll ever know the truth. Secrets like that, people work very hard at hiding. Most of the time they're just really embarrassed. I wish you luck. Please just don't let it define your whole life. Make peace with it and go on.
