Its not too forward at all! Alot of us guys wish women would take more initiative sometimes. If I had the answer to timing about asking for a girls number I would assume it was similar to a guy's but unfortunately I don't. My strategy (the shotgun effect) is that after Ive talked to a girl I like and she seems remotely interested in me I ask (or at least wish I'd asked later lol)

At least for me you can tell if I'm interested in you at a party or something if I give you my full attention, smile alot and try to make an escape. But that's just me. You just have to feel it for the right timing

If you like a guy you should go ahead and give him your number. If he chooses not to call then you know that you did all you could.

I would suggest that you give him your number after you have had a really good conversation. Simply say that you have a great time with him and you would love to talk more. Hand him your number and say that you hope he calls.

It is not too forward to ask for a guy's number and/or email. Times have changed. Guys have been putting themselves out there for eons and now it's our turn to take a chance. If you're pretty sure he is interested, go for it. Wait until there is no one around and mention it casually: "Hey, I'd like to give you a call sometime, maybe we can do something... or find out something you have in common and invite him to join you, get the number so you can confirm later: "There's a concert in the park on Sunday afternoon, wanna join me? I heard you like this group too. I'll give you a call on Saturday to confirm, your number is.......?
Well, hope I was helpful.

Good luck!

Wait til you get a good conversation going and you feel that he is interested in you. Then you can ask him if he wants your number. IF he offers to give you his number while you write down yours you don't have to ask.
