Because the scriptures are only a book written by men long after Jesus was dead and buried.

After it was written it has been translated, edited, translated, undergone major revision, translated and edited again.

Not to mention the countless transcriptions.

Compare the Torah to the OT - Its the same stories, but the Torah has had less revisions. Compare both to the Dead Sea scrolls. The stories have been enhanced in the retelling. Bits that don't fit with the image of the time get ripped out.

We reject the scriptures - they are the product of a stone age culture and have as much relevance as the Odyssey and the Iliad.

Research where the scriptures came from and how they came about, and you will understand why I reject Jesus. I don't care what the scriptures say. They're stories written by man. They're good stories to supply the population with morals, but they're meaningless.

Because it's inherent for people to feel that a threat isn't a healthy thing. This is one of the main reasons I refuse to become involved in religion. I don't believe it, I just don't. I was raised christian and I've had so many negative emotions directed toward me by christians if I do not comply.

I like Jesus, I think some of the teachings have merit. I do not like threats, however, and it goes against my values.

Because the Bible is just a book, nothing more to people who reject Jesus, therefore it is not a valid source.

Probably for the same reasons why people reject the flying spaghetti monster, even though they know very well what will happen to them if they do.....they will eventually feel its noodly appendages.

Why do you put the fate of your soul in the hands of a book edited by committee? Ask yourself this: "If King James isn't God, then why is his word gospel?"
