So there are two doors. One leads to fame and fortune. The other leads to certain death. YOU DON'T KNOW WHICH IS WHICH!! Both doors are gaurded by gaurd people. One of them always lies. The other always tells the truth. YOU DON'T KNOW WHICH LIES AND WHICH IS TRUTHFUL!!! If you were only allowed to ask ONE gaurd ONE question on which door lead to fame and fortune, what would you ask?

You ask either guard what the other guard would say lead to fame in fortune and chose the door opposite of what they say. If its the lying guard, he'd lie and say that the door is not where the truth guard would have pointed. If its the truth guard, he'd tell the truth and say what the lying guard would say the door was

I would ask the guard" Do you know if your door is the one for fame and fortune?'
If he says yes,he's the truthfull one and I would go thru his door
if he says no,he's the liar and I would go thru the other door.

This is the same as the riddle in the movie Labyrinth
Ask one "Would he (the other guard) tell me this door leads to fame?"
If the door you are pointing to is the wrong one and you are asking the lying doorkeeper, his answer would be yes - because he would lie. If you were asking the truthful doorkeeper, he too would answer yes - since the other doorkeeper would lie. In either case, the other door would be the correct one.

I don't know how you can get away with asking just one question?! My first question would be to establish who's the liar by asking either one of the guards (which could be either man or woman) i.e. male guard:
1. Are you a woman? The male guard who lies would say "yes" and the male guard who tells the truth would say "No".
Now that I would know who is the truthful one, my second question to him/her would obviously be: "which door are you guarding?"
Am eager to know the answer to your clever riddle that is certainly star-worthy!!
