That is a very good sign. That shows your cat will protect and take care of her kittens. This is because the tom cats will eat their offspring. The mama cat is showing normal, healthy aggression. You will want to keep a close eye on your tom cat and watch for where your cat has the kittens. It will probably be a place she visits regularly and shows signs of getting it ready for new kittens by bringing its possessions to the place. Do not snoop around because she might not go back if she smells human scent. ~Congrats~

As you know cats are related to the big cats the reason shes hissing at him goes back to the lions if a dominate male who is not the father of the cubs (baby lions) then that male cat will ultimately kill that lioness' cubs so your cat is reacting to the fact that hes a potential threat to her litter.

Spay and neuter your cats. If you have ever seen a program on lions, you will note the male gets out once the female is pregnant. She wants him out of there but it is an unnatural situation and where can he go? He may also kill any males that are born. Nature- he wants to be the only male in the pride.

She does this so he doesn't mount her whilst she is about to give birth nor after. Cats are horny and the males are all about passing on their genetic code. In the wild, male cats, will kill the new off spring off a female and due to the reproductive capability of felines - will re-breed that female. Sick, I know but it's called survival of the fittest. She is simply protecting her soon to be born brood.

Maybe because he made her this way and she doesn't want him around for the birth. In other not to stress her keep them apart. Best of luck with the kittens......

Hormones. How far along is she? If the kittens are coming soon, she may not want to have anything to do with anybody.
