hey love just take a minute to think about what you are doing-- you will have to look at this every day for the rest of your life... forever..maybe you should try drawing it on yourself for a while before you go get the tattoo-- i have so many friends who are even older than you and still wish they hadnt gotten the tattoo.. hopefully you will think hard about this!

Getting a tattoo is something that you pretty much have to keep for life so make sure it is what you want. I know that they now have ways of removing them but they all leave scars. I would also recommend that you ask around and see tattoos on individuals not just in books you want to know the what type of ink your artist is going to use. I do have a tattoo and had to have it redone to fading in less than six months. I was told by my second artist that it is always better to use an artist that uses overseas ink because they don't fade as fast that most shops use American ink that fades so you go back it is all about making money for some people, find someone that does it for the art they will give you a better tattoo. It doesn't really hurt it is more of an irritant almost like an itchy mosquito bite. Have fun and be safe and make a wise though out choice.

Okay, I researched this question for you and this is what I found to be most helpful, since I don't know if you were looking at any particular city in OK, KS, or TX. Apparently, laws are different from state to state. Some tattoo shops are allowed to do tats with parents consent but can't do body piercings while other states can't even do that even with a parent's consent. Hope this site below helps you out.

I'm not sure of any studios in your area that will do a tattoo for a minor. Even with parental consent, some will not (or are not allowed) to tattoo a minor. Most shops that will with parental consent have a hard limit of 16 (meaning absolutely no tattoos for those under 16)
Call around and ask your local studios. They should be able to provide you with an answer.
Once you know if you can get the tattoo or not, then you have to start doing some research. If you see people around with good work, ask where they got it done (we usually don't mind answering questions about our work!). Check out the portfolios of local artists. Pick one who does the style you want well.
Then check out the shop, bring your mom with you to get a second opinion (and to save yourself a lot of grief). It should be cleaner than your doctors office. There should be no smoking in the studio. Staff should be friendly and helpfull, willing to answer all of your questions. They should have thier licence and certificates displayed (look for blood-borne pathogen training, ask about first aid and CPR - those cards they probably carry with them). Ask about their autoclave, how often it's tested (once per month is what you're looking for).
There is a good list of what to look for at www.safepiercing.org (it's for piercing, but you want to look for the same things in a tattoo artist - just switch 'piercing' with 'tattoo')

Holy doodle girlfriend!- don't go anywhere unsanitary- I have 2 huge backpiece tats and 7 others, I also worked in Pharmacy for 5 years and now work in a hospital--don't go where dirt is!!- there is a reason you should be of age- and if you can't find a place near you, you and mom/chick friends should plan a kick *** road trip to get your first tatty in style--i've seen nasty infections- don't go there- you got lots of time for tats, plan the trip and do ér in style!
hey, look into miami ink on web and go on their show- that'd be a kick *** first tatty story!
good luck,

Come to New Zealand! Here you can get tattoos at the age of 16 w/o consent... and with consent you can do anything!

I would be afraid of the tatoo shop and/or tatoo artist that would do it... even with consent
there are legal ramifications for them.. even if your parents come with you and have birth certificate in hand
any shop willing to do is willing to go outside of the law.. and if they are willing to go outside of the law, then what is the likelyhood that they may also go outside of the other safegaurds & do things like re-use needles to cut corners
Those shops DO EXIST.. and you can find one.. but you might also get Hepatitis in the meantime

You just gonna ask around and then, if you find one, check the place out. I mean really good. Try to find other people that went there and ask their opinion. Make sure he's clean.......
the whole deal.
Then after you make your decision, take you mother with you, most tattooist will not except a note.
good luck

Only advice I got is just wait until you`re 18...My sister got one when she was 16 and to this day regrets it.
Really really think about your reasons for doing it before getting inked.. Good Luck!
