In Maryland, do I have to have my liscense plates on both the front and back of my car?

I don't want to put it on the front by drilling through the body, or have it in the window because that's just annoying. I dont really want to spend any extra cash on those snap-on liscense plate holders so I'd really like to know if I even have to have it on the front.

Maryland is a two plate state, for most classes of tags. Unless you have a special tag (dealer, transporter, motorcycle, apportioned) you are required to display both tags. The tags must be mounted on the vehicle, it is not legal to have them in the window.

You do not say what type of car you have, but you should be able to order the correct license plate bracket from the dealer, or you may find one at a recycling yard.

Call (301) 372 -1000 for the Brandywine Companies. They are one of the largest in the state, and can help you.

Why would you drill through the body? And a plate in the window is tacky, and usually illegal, not to mention a killer projectile in an accident, especially a rollover. If there are no holes in the front bumper for plate screws, you have to get a bracket, plain and simple.

If they gave you two plates I'm sure you need two plates. My knowledge is Ca I hope it helps. You see all those great photo radars and similar devices need to obtain info from the front plate. The fine on no front plate in Ca is high for that reason. No front plate lost revenue. For this same reason they don't allow the plate in the window either. Your best and cheapest solution is to put the front plate on, unless your in the habit of running red lights and toll evasion, and in that case, the hell with you (lol). Drive safely. I hope this helped.
