It depends on how well u maintain it. If u bought it new or bought it with very low mileage and taking in for scheduled services then it should last for the life of the car. I highly recommend synthetic eng. oil for a T5 because of it's lubricating proprerties. One thing that is not a scheduled replacement and never mentioned in the owner's manual and never mentioned by any shop or technician i know is the engine coolant thermostat. This little guy is one of my top ten neglected parts that can cause engine overheating and costly repairs. It's price is cheap..i mean under $15 and can be replaced under and hour in most cases. It should be part as a scheduled replacement item. Why it isn't...hmmmm...let me guess .....job security? Hope this info. was useful. Take care.

My mom has had her 1991 Volvo Station Wagon running for about 350,000 miles and it is finally breathing...well...running it's last. It was constantly driven both short and long distances but regular oil changes and a proper European-specialized mechanic check-up every couple years kept it going strong. So, I'd say 350,000- 400,000 if you're able to keep up with manufacturer recommendations! Good luck!

A very long time and a lot of miles. I believe that people have racked up close to a million miles on some. Depending on the level of maintenance and how you drive 300-500K miles is not unreasonable.

History shows that well maintained European engines can go hundreds of thousands of miles, and your vehicle is no exception. Simple take care of it and have it serviced more often than the suggested intervals, and you should be driving it for a long time.

No limit if you attend to all the small details before they become big deals and don't abuse the drive line.
