Both are said to be dangerous, but curious who historically has seen the greater risk, drivers or hitchhikers. I imagine the numbers are already out there. Does anybody know?

The greater risk is to the hitchhikers, in my opinion. I use to do a lot of it many years ago. I have to admit, it was interesting. I had guns pulled on me twice, that I can remember. Luckily, they were just letting me know that they had protection. Quick story-- Several people picked me up in a convertible and they had a baby with them. I was in the back with the grand father. He pulled a gun on me and told me to take a drink out of a baby bottle. I asked what was in the bottle and he said whiskey. They kept it in there in case they were stopped by the cops, they wouldn't check the bottle. I told the guy, put the gun away, I'll drink your whiskey and we rode for about 300 miles and it was an experience, although it could have turned out a lot worse. good luck

As a licensed concealed gun owner In Texas I do not pick up Hitch Hikers any more. I used to many years ago and no problems whatsoever. Today terriorists, Illegal aliens, Meth/drug addicts and Idiots with guns too? Why take the risk.

wow those are some interesting statistics, but def. picking up the hitchikers, because you have no idea what they are going to do to you or what they have on them.
