I have a blue heeler/sheperd mix. They are completely full of ENERGY! It seems like they will never stop - they probably could run themselves to death. We like to play fetch with a stick for half an hour, that gets her nice and tired. We also have a harness for her and she loves to run w/ the bike, we have to walk her like 10 miles to satisfy her thats why we prefer to bike! The other thing that she loves is her rawhides, they keep her really entertained for a long time(beef flavored). Good luck, and make sure to keep your pup WELL HYDRATED!!!

High Energy Dogs -- don't ya love em :)
with my Carolina Dog (who is veyr high energy) and for previous Blue Heelers in my life.. it was all about inter-active activities
Depending on the age & level of training/skill will govern the type of activity -- the health & vetting will determine where
For my Carolina Dog... we he was really young, sometimes we would just run in random patterns in the yard.. easy for me and fun for him while using some of the energy bundle
as he got older, we worked on frisbie, tossed balls, etc...
Now that I am not as agile, I toss the frisbie & he runs around like a nut in the backyard
Most of these high energy dogs can alse become destructive when bored... I find it useful to keep a box of doggie toys (with lots of rawhide chews) so he can keep himself busy when we are away
My Mom took him thru Agility Course Training.. but that is just way to formal for me... I wish I had gotten him into FlyBall when he was young as he would be so veyr good at FlyBall
He makes his own pretend agility course in my backyard... we have a camping trailer & he will run & jump it on both the long and the short stretch... it is fun to watch him work his energy out :) He also likes hunting squirrels and rabbits and other small furry critters.
In order to keep behavior and obedience in check, you will still want to walk your dog on a leash at least once each morning and once each evening.. it is kind-of a re-connect time.. with a refresher on proper obedience (if you are doing this correctly) and it will keep your Dog Owner status as the leader of the Dog

Doggie day care and dog parks are great- find places that your dog can run and play without being in danger or wearing you out too much! Frisbee and throwing balls are good too. Be careful when you exercise, if you do it too early in the day he'll take a nap and keep you up all night. Try to time it so it's exercise, dinner, potty, and bed. That way you'll get at least a few good hours of sleep. :-)

I had a blue heeler mix a few years back, we had to put her down, she was epileptic. But she was a huge bundle of energy. We would play with her when we were home and she wsa constantly active.

Congratulations, you have a beautiful, but hyper puppy! :D
Walking is the best way to wear out puppies, as long as they've had their first few sets of shots. If he/she doesn't have her shots yet, play fetch in the backyard, if you throw that ball enough times, he/she will get tired. Good luck!

WALK WALK WALK.
dogs need LOTS of excersize, and the type they like best is going out for a peaceful walk with their master.
MAKE SURE to walk the dog correctly especially since it's a puppy.
for example, don't let it go in front of you.
it will think it's your master.
if the puppy does go in front, put your head up, pull slightly on it's leash, and give out a dominant energy.
don't walk with a slouched position.
good luck with your puppy!!

get him or her a kong toy. They have pacifier shaped ones that are cute for puppies. Put a little peanut butter inside it. You can also try the black rubber tires. They are very heavy duty and they make them in different sizes. Just don't bother with the rope ones they just make a mess. They will be occupied for hours.

Play soccer. Get a basketball because they can't bite through them. Play until the dog stops and lays down. Happy and tired ACD!

Take him/her out somewhere where they can run as much as they want. If they are interested in fetch, buy a toy or a ball that they can play with. If not, just run with them, or romp. They really love that.

roller blades or a bike work great.. otherwise I'd try something like agility.. maybe frisbee.. (I've seen blue heelers go nuts playing frisbee.. they loved it)
