Why does it seem that people that come to America from foreign countries lose their religion and culture?

Recent times would suggest the contrary. But, if you lose your religion so easily, you had weak faith to begin with.

Maybe they came here because they wanted to get away frome the religion that was forced upon them.
People should lose their culture when they come to America. They should become Americans if they want to come to America and live.
This is the melting pot and they have to learn American ways and fit in or else go back to where they came from.

They say if you are in Rome, do what the Romans do and I guess it is also what the US wants. I don't see anything wrong with that specially in times when someone's religion and culture may pose danger to the innocent civilians of USA.

Where did you get that idea? Come to NYC next year for the "ST Patrick's Day Parade", "Cinco de Mayo" , "Columbus Day Parade" "Chinese New Years" Greek festivals, Jewish Festivals, Ukrainian festivals, Haitian festivals, Greek Orthodox festivals, Turkish festivals etc etc etc.

From my childhood to now, the state of CA. went from predominently English speaking, to Spanish speaking.
