Should Nascar keep putting up these 1 1/2 mile tracks? I think they would be better off building another track like Richmond or a Bristol. Need to get back to their roots. These cookie-cutter are not really racing, more like follow the leader. What do you think?

I can't agree with you more. This is the demise of NASCAR and people want more these tracks. I just don't get it from a entertainment point of view. Sure you will pack them in and your area will benefit from the revenue but this needs to be a double edge sword.
This cancer of "I want a track in my town and oh yes I need it to be around a 1.5 mile track so I can pack 150,000 to 180,000 people in."
BUT WHAT ABOUT THE RACING? "No one will figure that out for a while. They will be thrilled to look at the backs of the people doing that live show on that once great race channel aaahhh well I think it's called SPEED but SLOW should be it's name now. And we will push race scanners on them and they will forget how horrible the race is."
Has to stop.
This new bunch of NASCAR fans really don't have a clue about racing. It is the in thing for them to be a NASCAR fan and to have a track near there home town is cool I guess. I would hate it if they did that in my area.
The so called big TV rights contract with NASCAR about 6 or 7 years ago brought NASCAR down to the ground like the Berlin wall. I doubt if it ever will recover.
What was once a great great sport to watch is gone for half a season.

The cookie cutter tracks are designed to cut down on testing. In therory having all the tracks simular then the number of test could be reduced.
NASCAR was developed on various style and size tracks and there were more winners. With cookie cuttewr traks it seems thatonce a team get a hold on the setup for one they have the set up for all.
NASCAR needs a DIRT track.

How can u say that it is not really racing?? When u were riding your big wheel and other kids were on bikes... did u race??? What does the track have to do with anything... IT IS RACING.... whether on a 3/8 dirt to a 2 1/2 mile oval.... Racing is racing.... if you dont like the tracks... go watch TENNIS!

No.The Atlanta track is larger faster and more abrasive that any of the "cookie cutter" tracks. Though somepeople think that after the "reversing" of the track it was flipped to be in the configuration of the "cookie cutter" tracks.Personally Charlotte was the first cookie cutter track.

I hate cookie cutters! Kudos to Las Vegas to for putting forth the effort to make their track more interesting for drivers and fans alike to race.

Whoever said bring back Wilkesboro, I second that!

They should reopen the 5/8 mile North Wilkesboro Speedway, that track has a very unique configuration!

THEY SHOULDNT KEEP BUILDING THE SAME TYPE OF TRACK

BUT THEY WILL FOR 1 REASON THEY CAN FIT MORE SEATS AROUND THIS SIZE TRACK WHICH MEANS MORE MONEY IN NASCARS POCKET
DONT SEE THEM BUILDING ANY SMALL TRACKS ANYMORE
