It is according to what you would like best. A complimentary color would be opposite maroon on the color wheel which would be yellows,golds,tans,etc. Or blue.You just nee to add black to the basic color and you will get a dark color like maroon. If you want coordinating colors you should go with reds,pinks or even a violet if the maroon color has a little blue to it.A good color combo is blues,pinks,tans,or golds. Maybe golish walls,tan flooring/wood furniture,blues and maroons in the uphostery and curtains.Some upholstery could be floral or plaid,etc. Best wishes!

Red and blue are complementary colours, as they are the foundation of maroon. Most shades/hues of these two are good.
