Atheists are rated below Muslims, immigrants, and homosexuals. They are also apparently the minority group that Americans are least likely to allow their children to marry. Why is that? After the fuss the Bush administration has stirred up, I would think Muslims would be the most hated/distrusted group.

Because most Americans are dumbasses who think atheist death squads will one day rappelle down ropes from black helicopters, kick in the doors to their trailers, and at gun point convert everyone inside to atheism/homosexuality before burning the American flag and creating a communist government.

Regarding Muslims, I think American Christians make the analogy thus - Ordinary American Muslim: Al Qaeda::Ordinary American Christian: Westboro Baptist. Everybody has that brother-in-law in jail or whatever that they'd like to forget about.

In my opinion- you're being very judgemental. Why would you want to hurt your brothers and sisters by saying such a thing? Each of us belongs to eachother. I don't think you should make such a rash generalization. I know I wouldn't want to be judged by the mistakes of "my people." We're all Americans. You never know what one person may be dealing with and the last thing they need is someone else racially profiling them. If you disagree with what someone is doing the best way to help them change is by being the change you wish to see in them. I don't write this to sound harsh. I just wanted you to be aware how you come off.

I would say that people find the idea of atheism a bit scary and depressing. No god, no afterlife, people don't want to hear that. And some people will even go as far as to say that atheists are evil.

Well, I can see why homosexuals would be on the list of people we don't want our kids to marry...
And I surely wouldn't want my kids to marry Muslims, either...especially my daughters...
hmmmm...
I suppose it would be alright if my little girl married an atheist...IF he can be open minded about her religion, and IF he makes a bundle of money...
...
and IF he understands, before he says "I do" that Granny WILL be taking the kids to church.
My advice to my daughter? Don't sign any pre-nups, Baby, and don't let him talk you into moving out of Alabama...remember, this is a COMMUNITY PROPERTY state...

cause most journalist are religious so it's only fitting they make up something as it comes out of their rectal. At least I don't go around causing harm then praying it off and be sent to "heaven" that's cowardice and a cushy way of being holler than thou. "Na na na na I just killed someone now god has to forgive me because I know it's instant that I have his forgiveness".

Because there is a frighteningly high percentage of people in the United States who think that if you don't believe in God, you don't have any morals. That is completely untrue, but many people believe it anyway, and that's probably why you end up seeing statistics like those.

at least muslims have some moral values they hold on to...while immigrants might not harass one's thought about value and principle...and homosexuals, well they're just happy getting what they want and thats all
