You can believe in evolution if you want but it would be better if you UNDERSTAND evolution.
Evolution is science and belief has no place in science.

I know no one probably cares about my answer way at the bottom of the page here, but if I might add my 2 cents. I am a born again christian and have always found that evolution coincides beautifully with the bible and even explains some important unanswered questions like who was Cain's wife and who were the people Cain was afraid would kill him if there was only he and his parents on the earth. If you take the hint from Peter in 2 Peter where he says, "a day to the Lord is as 1000 years," then you can begin to see that there is no conflict with the 6 days of creation and evolution. God created the heavens and the earth but not necessarily in six 24 hour days.

God was intelligent enough to design and create without evolution! Anyone who understand the true teaching of the Bible, cannot also believe in the theory of evolution! Evolution is a lie from the Father of Lies, Satan!

Well I went to Catholic schools for 13 years and I was only ever taught evolution, I guess that could be the reason why so many other christian denominations can't stand Catholic perspective

Intelligence would mean no need to go through all the evolution... he'd just create man, animals, nature, planets, our world.
Your idea would be like a watchmaker making half a watch, or a desiner making 1/2 a dress, or a builder making 1/2 a building. They wouldn't do that because they have the intelligence to make a WHOLE one, and make it right.
I believe in adaptation, but I don't buy for a second that species changed to other species, there's NO fossil evidence for this, no transitional fossils at all.
Be blessed! =)

Yes, I have met some that do. They believe evolution was put into play by God, and that 7 days God time could be pretty much thousands of years to us.

Speaking from a Catholic perspective: Yes. Pope John Paul the II said that there is enough evidence to conclude that evolution is more than just a theory.

Evolution and Creation are irreconcilable because evolution denies the possibility of intelligent design whereas ID is central to the concept of Creation. For instance, just ask any evolutionist if intelligent design is a viable possibility. They'll inevitably say no way.

I think that most Christians outside of the U.S. accept evolution. Even the pope (so far as I know) has acknowledged it as the best scientific theory about the development of life.

A number of people claim to be christians, yet also agree with evolution, so yes you can be.
However, there is the task of reconciling evolution and the creation stories in Genesis.

Yes sure you can. Any good designer has a back up system in his design in case something changes. Evolution is simply Gods back up system . I dont see where the conflict is.
