Play therapy to get to the bottom of this.. Break out the barbies.. and slowly bring up..here I know this is your mom and this is you k show me with the barbies its okay..have an adult near by to witness to see if its a matter that needs further investigation..

I think that you should talk to an adult that you trust - like a teacher, or a priest. Tell them what is on your mind, and what is bothering you. It may be that you can help someone out of a very bad situation.

Take this to an older person in ur family. One that iz real close with your cousin's mom because this iz serious. Make sure itz someone u trust and ur cousin adores.

She has to feel safe enough to tell you, tell her some little secrets about yourself (nohing to graphic since shes 8) but enough for her to see that its ok to talk.
Just reasurre her that you are there for her, whenever she needs you and when she is ready to talk.
You cant help her until you know why she is scared of her mum.

Trust me honey, you need to take this to an adult.
Your mom, or dad. Or some older adult you trust.

Mention it to your mother. Its not unusual for an 8yr old to not be ok with overnight stays. Don't assume its something wrong.
