One of my boys was diagnosed with high functioning Autism and the other with Aspergers. The military really does not have much in the way of treatment for the disorders in the Autistic spectrum. my family had to return tote states. Now i am looking for Naval bases that have quality services (covered by tricare or the state) nearby. The cost of living in California is way to high and Virginia’s programs are stone age compared to Pennsylvania where they are now. They are currently in western PA where no Naval Installations nearby. I am primarily looking at the northwest, Texas and Florida. Release to recruiting and RDC have both been eliminated as well. Thanks for your time in advance.

MRS JVB.

I am very aware of this. When I complete this tour i will have spent 3 of the last 4 1/2 years unaccompanied. I am trying to gather more information to assist in choosing my next duty station somewhere my family can be with me and recieve comparable medical treatment instead of being apart again.

You can seek outside private services, not services from State or other local government agencies. You then petition the Military to pay for the required services. Sometime you have to contact Veterans Affairs. Veterans Affairs should be able to inform you of the regulations that allow such petitions and where a petition for payment of outside services should be made. HOPE THIS HELPS.

The best choice is to leave the navy for good if you really care about your family. There are better jobs out there than armed forces.

sorry to say but EFMP does NOT guarentee that the SM will be stationed where the family members can receive help, only that they will screen the area fior facilities. nothing prevents this from the SM gettingstationed wherever.
