Yes and no. The majority of our illegal immigrants are not well educated and end up in low paying labor jobs. A person who works for small wages and still is responsible for supporting a family will get many tax breaks. E.G. If you make $6 an hour with no health benefits and have a family of four (2 adults and 2 children) how will you support those 3 people(healthcare, education, etc.) ? Government aid would be required. If illegal immigrants became legal citizens and started using services the same way the legal taxpayer of the same educational level did, it would actually cause a deficit.

In short, if they want to come here and benefit from our government, they should do it the right way in the first place. Their sneaking, is in some ways, disrespectful of the American government. Another thing...the government doesn't have the time and resources to deal with all those people who are supposed to come out and fess up that they are illegal (which as most people stated, is not gonna happen). We are in the middle of a "war" that should be our priority. Our men and women are dying everyday for other people who don't even want us over there, and the people at home are worried about the illegals NOW. We should have closed the borders a long time ago, and none of this would have happened.

what part of ILLEGAL don't you understand? should they be rewarded for their crime ? why not just grant amnesty to all the murderers and rapists in prison and set them free to become law abiding tax paying citizens? It would be the same difference. I have nothing against LEGAL immigrants. They followed the law. Or maybe we can just do away with all laws and let this be an anarchist nation where anything goes. No taxes, no government , no cops. oh and do a search on our (non)federal (non)reserve and learn the truth about our so called "national debt". The federal reserve is neither federal or a reserve.

Wrong on all accounts. Low wage people in the US don't pay enough taxes to support the U.S. Welfare State, and any money they save goes to Mexico where it is worth far more to their extended families. The crooked government of Mexico is essentially selling cheap labor as a foreign export, to keep the government there from collapsing.
I'd prefer it to collapse and be replaced by a free economy of the people, by the people, and for the people.
Instead, the US economy will be by the US citizens, for the invading nation, and eventually controlled by that invading nation.
Forget Social Security. It's a Socialist Ponzi scheme. Don't count on it showing up for anybody born after 1960, regardless of how many slaves are imported. It's the biggest boondoggle in human history.

What little taxes they will pay once a citizen will not near cover the government assistance they will receive.
Assuming all come forward, pay their fines and fees and get issued a social security card. Most will work for what? minimum wage? The new minimum wage is 7.25 per hour (of course this will differ from state to state) that is approximately $1200 per month or around $15000 per year... That is considered working poor and will be eligible for earned income tax credits, especially with children involved, so likely they will not be paying much in the way of federal, very little to state and $960 into SS and $217.50 into Medicare PER YEAR. $15000 - $960 - $217.50 = $13822.50 total income after taxes. Some may earn more than this but EIC's (Earned Income Credit) go as high as $34,692 for married workers. How many do you know that will make more than that?
How many government assistance programs do you think $13822.50 per year will entitle you to? Medicaid (yes) Welfare (yes) WIC (yes) Education and clothing vouchers (yes) the list goes on. After we calculate the annual salary minus government assistance do you believe they will be an asset or a liability to the taxpayers? Once they hit the social security system (which is already broken) how do you think we will pay for it all? Now imagine these figures x 12+ million and their familes (at least another 12 million likely tripple that)
Taxpayers pay for all that, we are overburdended as is and you want to add more.
You have seen thousands of selfish Americans on welfare??? Wow, where do you live??? How do you afford to live there, the cost of living must be unreal, that or your exagerating just a wee bit (or a ton) to prove your point?

Coming from an illegal that I used to work with when I was a liberal....he just had to pay a handful of money to obtain a fake ID and even got a social security number...the ID was fake and the SS# was stolen. He did not pay taxes and lived off the government. The money he did make went to pay for his family to get here, illegally, and to feed his urges would be a frequent customer to prostitutes. I didn't realize that it cost just 15-25 bucks for some, er, uh....oral pleasure until he told me that's what he paid. He found that from the other 4 illegals he lived with.

Most of the New Mexicans are day labor payed at the end of the day no W2's they only pay sales tax. Much of their money goes back to Mexico. They receive more in Government assistance than 50% of the people born here. And they want us to learn Spanish to boot. Both of my grandparents came from another country. My grandmother came from Germany and learned English. My grandfather came here from Irland and worked in the cole mines. They did not get any government dole for comming here. No they are a burden to our ecomony. Some of the hospitals in Ca. have gone broke because of the influx of illigals. We send others back to their countey after many years here as productive citizens. So Why treat Mexicans any different. They want to come here OK but do it by the book, and no government hand outs of any kind.

You just don't get the illegal part do you? Why would or should we grant amnesty to the very people that have invaded our country illegally? There are so many people who are waiting and going through the proper channels toward immigration and we're going to just give it up to a bunch of uninvited foreigners? They have criminally broken our laws and have had the audacity to march in our streets for rights they have never earned in any way, most of us want them out of our country yesterday. How many other laws are they breaking at their own descretion? How many more to come?

Well you do have a valid point that it will bring many people out of the woodwork, but there are two problems A this is no gaurantee, because many who do work work under the table on a cash only basis and sad to say regardless of legal status this will probably continue. It is like hiring your next door neighbors son to cut your lawn. He is a citizen yet you pay him under the table and no taxes get taken out. Really what this solves is idenity theft. Many illegals do pay taxes because they use false SSN to work in the USA and end up getting payroll and other taxes taken out. As for a boost to our economy I really do not think it will. Mainly because before illegals contributed about 3 percent annually to our federal deficit. This will probably be brought down to 1 or 2 percent but we will not profit from it. But like McCain said in the Debate continuing to do nothing about illegals here is a defacto amnesty and we need to do something to bring these people out of the shadows. Nothing good ever happens when you work in the shadows.

Well where do you want to start. 1 We have a problem with over crowding. 2 How many will to turn them self's in to get legal. 3 Jobs are slim to none in many states because of illegal immigrants. 4 16 million will soon turn in to 25 million and we can't keep up with building school at that rate 5 Well if you don't get by now your just not going to.
