I have had Shingles twice in my life now. I haven't had a breakout for about a year now. When I do, it's always located along my left side starting middle of my back and wrapping around. Although I haven't broke out in a while I do find I'm always itchy around the area that did break out. Is this commen?

yes, it is called herpetic neuralgia, be glad it is only an itch, many suffer with excrutiating pain for years.

There is frequently nerve damage with shingles. This is probably what you are feeling.
